1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن الحسن القطان (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن يحيى، قال: حدثنا بكر بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن زياد الكوفي، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحكم، قال: حدثنا منصور بن أبي الاسود، عن جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: لما مرض النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) مرضه الذي قبضه الله فيه، اجتمع إليه أهل بيته وأصحابه، فقالوا: يا رسول الله، إن حدث بك حدث فمن لنا بعدك، ومن القائم فينا بأمرك؟ فلم يجبهم جوابا، وسكت عنهم. فلما كان اليوم الثاني أعادوا عليه القول، فلم يجبهم عن شئ مما سألوه. فلما كان اليوم الثالث قالوا له: يا رسول الله، إن حدث بك حدث فمن لنا من بعدك، ومن القائم فينا بأمرك؟ فقال لهم: إذا كان غدا هبط نجم من السماء في دار رجل من أصحابي، فانظروا من هو، فهو خليفتي عليكم من بعدي، والقائم فيكم بأمري، ولم يكن فيهم أحد إلا وهو يطمع أن يقول له أنت القائم من بعدي. فلما كان اليوم الرابع، جلس كل رجل منهم في حجرته، ينتظر هبوط النجم، إذ انقض نجم من السماء قد غلب ضوؤه على ضوء الدنيا حتى وقع في حجرة  علي (عليه السلام)، فهاج القوم، وقالوا: والله لقد ضل هذا الرجل وغوى، وما ينطق في ابن عمه إلا بالهوى، فأنزل الله تبارك وتعالى في ذلك: (والنجم إذا هوى * ما ضل صاحبكم وما غوى * وما ينطق عن الهوى * إن هو إلا وحى يوحى) (1) إلى آخر السورة (2).

مرضه الذي قبضه الله فيه اجتمع إليه أهل بيته و أصحابه فقالوا...فقال

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us He said: Ahmad b. al-Hasan al-Qattan (rh) narrated to us He said: Ahmad b. Yahya narrated to us. He said: Bakr b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan b. Ziyad al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Hakam narrated to us. He said: Mansur b. Abi’l Aswad narrated to us from Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: When the Prophet (s) became ill with the illness that Allah caused him to pass away with, his Ahl al-Bayt and his companions gathered to him and said: O Messenger of Allah! If something were to happen to you, who will be for us after you? Who will take charge of your authority over us? He did not respond to them and remained silent with them. On the second day, they repeated this saying to him, but he did not respond to them in anything that they had asked. On the third day, they said to him: O Messenger of Allah! If something were to happen to you, who will be for us after you? Who will take charge of your authority over us? So, he said to them: Tomorrow, a meteor will fall from the sky into the house of a man from my companions. So, look for him, for he is my vicegerent (khalifa) over you after me and the one who will take charge of my authority over you. So, there was not one among them except that they desired for him to say to them: “You will take charge after me.” On Wednesday, each man among them sat in his room, looking for the landing of the meteor, when a meteor fell from the sky. Its light overpowered the light of the world; until it landed in the room of `Ali (as). So, the people rushed and said: By Allah! This man is misguided and astray, and he has not spoken regarding his cousin except by desire. So, regarding this, Allah revealed, “By the star when it descends! Your companion is neither misguided nor astray, nor does he speak by desire. It is but an inspired revelation.” (53:1-4)

2 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثني عمي محمد ابن أبي القاسم، قال: حدثني محمد بن علي الكوفي، عن المفضل بن صالح الاسدي، عن محمد بن مروان، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من أبغضنا أهل البيت بعثه الله يوم القيامة يهوديا. قيل: يا رسول الله، وإن شهد الشهادتين؟ قال: نعم، فإنما احتجز بهاتين الكلمتين عن سفك دمه، أو يؤدي الجزية عن يد وهو صاغر. ثم قال: من أبغضنا أهل البيت بعثه الله يهوديا. قيل: فكيف، يا رسول الله؟ قال: إن أدرك الدجال آمن به (3).

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (rh) narrated to us. He said: My uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim narrated to me. He said: Muhammad b. `Ali al-Kufi narrated to me from al-Mufaddal b. Salih al-Asadi from Muhammad b. Marwan from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever hates us, the Ahl al-Bayt, Allah will raise him up on the Day of Resurrection as a Jew. It was said: O Messenger of Allah! Even if he bears witness to the two testimonies? He said: Yes, for surely, he only upholds these two sayings so that his blood may not be shed, or so that he does not pay the jizya as a subordinate. Then, he said: Whoever hates us, the Ahl al-Bayt, Allah will raise him as a Jew. It was said: How, O Messenger of Allah? He said: If he came by the Dajjal, he would believe in him.

3 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله، عن أبي الجوزاء، عن الحسين بن علوان، عن عمرو بن خالد، عن عاصم بن أبي النجود الاسدي، عن ابن عمر، عن الحسن بن علي (عليهما السلام)، قال: سمعت أبي علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السلام) يقول: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): أيما امرئ مسلم جلس في مصلاه الذي يصلي فيه الفجر، يذكر الله عز وجل حتى تطلع الشمس، كان له من الاجر كحاج بيت الله، وغفر له، فإن جلس فيه حتى تكون ساعة تحل فيها الصلاة، فصلى ركعتين أو أربعا غفر له ما سلف من ذنبه، وكان له من الاجر كحاج بيت الله (4).

قال سمعت أبي علي بن أبي طالب ع يقول قال

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from Abi’l Jawza’ from al-Husayn b. `Ilwan from `Amr b. Khalid from `Asim b. Abi’l Najud al-Asadi from Ibn `Umar from al-Hasan b. `Ali (as). He said: I heard My father `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) say: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: If a Muslim person were to sit in his place of prayer in which he prays Fajr, remembering Allah until sunrise, he will have the reward of one who has made pilgrimage to the House of Allah – and he will be forgiven. If he sits in it until the moment in which prayer becomes permissible [again after sunrise], then prays two or four units, [all] his past sins will be forgiven, and he will have the reward of one who has made pilgrimage to the House of Allah.

4 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا  محمد بن الحسن الصفار، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن الحكم ابن مسكين الثقفي، عن أبي العلاء الخفاف، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، قال: من صلى المغرب ثم عقب ولم يتكلم حتى يصلي ركعتين، كتبتا له في عليين، فإن صلى أربعا كتبت له حجة مبرورة (1).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us from al-Hakam b. Miskin al-Thaqai from Abi’l `Ala’ al-Khaffaf from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: He who prays Maghrib and follows it up by praying two units, without speaking in between, shall be among the elect (`iliyyin). If he prays four units, he shall have an accepted Hajj recorded for him.

5 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن جعفر الاسدي، عن سهل بن زياد الآدمي، عن يعقوب بن يزيد، عن محمد بن حمزة، عمن سمع أبا عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام) يقول: من لقي حاجا فصافحه، كان كمن استلم الحجر (2).

يقول

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ja`far al-Asadi narrated to us from Sahl b. Ziyad al-Adami from Ya`qub b. Yazid from Muhammad b. Hamza from him who heard Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) say: He who meets a pilgrim and makes room for him shall be like one who reached the [Black] Stone.

6 - حدثنا أحمد بن هارون الفامي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن جعفر بن جامع الحميري، عن أبيه، عن بنان بن محمد بن عيسى، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن المغيرة، عن إسماعيل بن مسلم السكوني، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه (عليهما السلام) (3)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): ما من عبد يصبح صائما فيشتم فيقول: إني صائم سلام عليك، إلا قال الرب تبارك وتعالى: استجار عبدي بالصوم من عبدي، أجيروه من ناري، وأدخلوه جنتي (4).

Ahmad b. Harun al-Fami (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far b. Jami` al-Himyari narrated to us from his father from Banan b. Muhammad b. `Isa from his father from `Abdullah b. al-Mughira from Isma`il b. Muslim al-Sukuni from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: There is not a worshiper who is insulted while he is fasting who responds: “Surely, I am fasting. Peace be unto you” except that the Lord says: “My servant sought refuge from My servant by fasting. Save him from My Fire and bring him into My Paradise.”

7 - حدثنا عبد الواحد بن محمد العطار (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي بن محمد بن قتيبة النيسابوري، قال: حدثنا حمدان بن سليمان، قال: حدثنا علي بن النعمان، عن عبد الله بن طلحة، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، قال: من صام يوم سبعة وعشرين من رجب (5)، كتب الله له أجر صيام سبعين سنة (6).

`Abd al-Wahid b. Muhammad al-`Attar (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Muhammad b. Qutayba al-Nisapuri narrated to us. He said: Hamdan b. Sulayman narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Nu`man narrated to us from `Abdullah b. Talha from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as). He said: Whoever fasts the twenty-seventh of Rajab, Allah records the reward of seventy years of fasting for him.

8 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أحمد بن يحيى بن عمران الاشعري، قال: حدثنا محمد بن حسان الرازي، عن سهل ابن زياد الواسطي، عن بكر بن صالح، عن محمد بن سنان، عن منذر بن يزيد، عن يونس بن ظبيان، قال: قال أبو عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام): من صام يوما في الحر فأصابه ظمأ، وكل الله به ألف ملك يمسحون وجهه ويبشرونه، حتى إذا أفطر قال الله عز وجل: ما أطيب ريحك وروحك! يا ملائكتي اشهدوا أني قد غفرت له (1).

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Yahya b. `Imran al-Ash`ari narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Hassan al-Razi narrated to us from Sahl b. Ziyad al-Wasiti from Bakr b. Salih from Muhammad b. Sinan from Mundhir b. Yazid from Yunus b. Thibyan. He said: Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) said: Whoever fasts on a hot day and is afflicted with thirst, Allah commissions one thousand angels to wipe down his face and give him glad tidings. Once he breaks his fast, Allah says: “How sweet is your fragrance and your spirit! O My angels! Bear witness that I have forgiven him.”

9 - حدثنا أحمد بن زياد بن جعفر الهمداني (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي ابن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن أبيه، عن الحسين بن النوفلي، عن إسماعيل بن أبي زياد، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليه السلام)، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): ما من صائم يحضر قوما يطعمون إلا سبحت أعضاؤه، وكانت صلاة الملائكة عليه، وكانت صلاتهم له استغفارا (2).

Ahmad b. Ziyad b. Ja`far al-Hamadani (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from his father from al-Husayn b. al-Nawfali from Isma`il b. Abi Ziyad from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: There is not a faster who attends to a people who are eating except that his appendages glorify [Allah]. The angels bless him, and their blessings are a repentance for him.

10 - حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا الحسين ابن محمد بن عامر، عن عمه عبد الله بن عامر، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن حماد بن عثمان، عن الحلبي: أنه سأل أبا عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام) عن الصوم في الحضر. فقال: ثلاثة أيام في كل شهر: الخميس من جمعة، والاربعاء من جمعة، والخميس من جمعة. فقال له الحلبي: هذا من كل عشرة أيام يوم؟ قال: نعم. وقد قال أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام): صيام شهر رمضان وثلاثة أيام في كل شهر يذهبن بلابل الصدور (3)، إن صيام ثلاثة أيام في كل شهر يعدل صيام الدهر، إن الله عز وجل يقول: (من جاء بالحسنة فله عشر أمثالها) (4)

أنه سأل

...فقال

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur (ra) narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from his uncle `Abdullah b. `Amer from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hammad b. `Uthman from al-Halabi. He asked Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) about fasting while in the city (not travelling). So, he said: There are three days in every month: (1) the Thursday before [the first] Friday, (2) the Wednesday before [the second] Friday, and (3) the Thursday before [the third] Friday. So, al-Halabi said to him: Is this a day for every ten days? He said: Yes. And Amir al-Mu’minin (as) said: Fasting the month of Ramadan and three days of every month removes anxiety from the chests. Surely, fasting three in every month is equal to fasting for the whole year. Allah says, “He who comes with a good deed shall be rewarded tenfold.” (6:160)

11 - حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق الطالقاني، قال: حدثنا أحمد ابن محمد الهمداني مولى بني هاشم، قال: حدثنا المنذر بن محمد، عن جعفر بن سليمان، عن عبد الله بن الفضل الهاشمي، قال: كنت عند أبي عبد الله جعفر بن محمد الصادق (عليه السلام)، فدخل عليه رجل من أهل طوس، فقال له: يا بن رسول الله، ما لمن زار قبر أبي عبد الله الحسين بن علي (عليه السلام)؟ فقال له: يا طوسي، من زار قبر أبي عبد الله الحسين بن علي (عليه السلام)، وهو يعلم أنه إمام من الله مفترض الطاعة على العباد، غفر الله له ما تقدم من ذنبه وما تأخر، وقبل شفاعته في سبعين مذنبا، ولم يسأل الله عز وجل عند قبره حاجة إلا قضاها له. قال: فدخل موسى بن جعفر (عليه السلام)، فأجلسه على فخذه، وأقبل يقبل ما بين عينيه، ثم التفت إليه فقال له: يا طوسي، إنه الامام والخليفة والحجة بعدي، وإنه سيخرج من صلبه رجل يكون رضا لله عز وجل في سمائه ولعباده في أرضه، يقتل في أرضكم بالسم ظلما وعدوانا، ويدفن بها غريبا، ألا فمن زاره في غربته، وهو يعلم أنه إمام بعد أبيه مفترض الطاعة من الله عز وجل، كان كمن زار رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) (1).

فدخل عليه رجل من أهل طوس فقال له يا بن رسول الله ما لمن زار قبر أبي عبد الله الحسين بن علي ع فقال له

Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq al-Talaqani narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Hamadani the servant of the Children of Hashim narrated to us. He said: Al-Mundhir b. Muhammad narrated to us from Ja`far b. Sulayman from `Abdullah b. al-Fadl al-Hashimi He said: I was with Abi `Abdillah Ja`far b. Muhammad al-Sadiq (as) when a man entered from the people of Tus. So, he said to him: O son of the Messenger of Allah! What is [the reward] of one who visits the grave of Abi `Abdillah al-Husayn b. `Ali (as)? So, he said to him: O Tusi! Whoever visits the grave of Abi `Abdillah al-Husayn b. `Ali (as) whilst knowing that he is an Imam from Allah whose obedience is obligatory for the worshipers, Allah will forgive his past and future sins. His intercession will be accepted for seventy sinners. He will not ask Allah for a need at his grave except that He will fulfill it for him. He said: Musa b. Ja`far (as) entered, so he sat him down on his lap, kissed his forehead, and then turned to him (the man from Tus) and said to him: O Tusi! Surely, he is the Imam, the Caliph, and the Proof after me. From his loins will come a man with whom Allah is pleased (rida) in His heavens and the worshipers are [pleased with him] on His Earth. He will be killed by poison, in oppression and enmity, in your land. He will be buried there as a stranger. Surely, he who visits him in his solitude, knowing that he is an Imam after his father, and that his obedience is obligated by Allah, shall be like one who visits the Messenger of Allah (s).

12 - حدثنا أحمد بن علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني أبي، عن جدي، عن الصقر بن دلف، قال: سمعت سيدي علي بن محمد بن علي الرضا (عليه السلام) يقول: من كانت له إلى الله تبارك وتعالى حاجة، فليزر قبر جدي الرضا (عليه السلام) بطوس وهو على غسل، وليصل عند رأسه ركعتين، وليسأل الله حاجته في قنوته، فإنه يستجيب له، ما لم يسأل في مأثم، أو قطيعة رحم، وإن موضع قبره لبقعة من بقاع الجنة، لا يزورها مؤمن إلا أعتقه الله من النار، وأحله دار القرار (2).

Ahmad b. `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from my grandfather from al-Saqr b. Dulf He said: I heard my master `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali al-Rida (as) say: Whoever has a need from Allah should visit the grave of my grandfather al-Rida (as) in Tus after having bathed. Then, he should pray two units at his head and ask Allah for his need in his qunut, and it will be fulfilled for him as long as he is not asking for depravity or severing blood ties. Surely, the place where he is buried is a plot in Paradise. No believer visits it except that Allah frees him from the Fire and brings him into the Abode of Resolution.

13 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن الحسن المؤدب، عن أحمد بن علي الاصبهاني، عن إبراهيم بن محمد الثقفي، قال: حدثنا محمد بن داود  الدينوري، قال: حدثنا منذر العشراني، قال: حدثنا سعيد بن زيد، عن أبي قنبل، عن أبي الجارود، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس، عن النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله)، قال: إن حلقة باب الجنة من ياقوتة حمراء على صفائح الذهب، فإذا دقت الحلقة على الصفحة طنت وقالت: يا علي (1).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. al-Hasan al-Mu’addab narrated to us from Ahmad b. `Ali al-Isfahani from Ibrahim b. Muhammad al-Thaqafi. He said: Muhammad b. Dawud al-Dinuri narrated to us. He said: Mundhir al-`Ishrani narrated to us. He said: Sa`id b. Zayd narrated to us from Abi Qanbal from Abi’l Jarud from Sa`id b. Jubayr from Ibn `Abbas from the Prophet (s). He said: The ring pull on the gate of Paradise is made from ruby, and it is upon sheets of gold. When the ring pull knocks on the sheet, it chimes and says: “O `Ali (ya `Ali).”

14 - حدثنا أحمد بن الحسن القطان، قال: حدثنا القاسم بن عباس، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن يحيى الكوفي، قال: حدثنا أبو قتادة الحراني، عن جعفر بن برقان، عن ميمون بن مهران، عن زاذان، عن ابن عباس، قال: لما فتح الله عز وجل مكة خرجنا ونحن ثمانية آلاف رجل، فلما أمسينا صرنا عشرة الآف من المسلمين، فرفع رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) الهجرة، فقال: لا هجرة بعد فتح مكة. قال: ثم انتهينا إلى هوازن، فقال النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) لعلي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام): يا علي، قم فانظر كرامتك على الله عز وجل، كلم الشمس إذا طلعت. قال ابن عباس: والله ما حسدت أحدا إلا علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام) في ذلك اليوم. وقلت للفضل: قم ننظر كيف يكلم علي بن أبي طالب الشمس، فلما طلعت الشمس قام علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام) فقال: السلام عليك أيها العبد الصالح المطيع الدائب في طاعة الله ربه، فأجابته الشمس وهي تقول: وعليك السلام يا أخا رسول الله ووصيه وحجة الله على خلقه. قال: فانكب علي (عليه السلام) ساجدا شكرا لله عز وجل، قال: فو الله لقد رأيت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) قام فأخذ برأس علي (عليه السلام) يقيمه ويمسح وجهه، ويقول: قم حبيبي، فقد أبكيت أهل السماء من بكائك، وباهى الله عز وجل بك حملة عرشه (2).

قال لما فتح الله عز و جل مكة خرجنا...فقال

لعلي بن أبي طالب ع

Ahmad b. al-Hasan al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Al-Qasim b. `Abbas narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Yahya al-Kufi narrated to us. He said: Abu Qutada al-Harrani narrated to us from Ja`far b. Burqan from Maymun b. Mahran from Zadhan from Ibn `Abbas. He said: When Allah liberated Mecca, we went out, and we had eight thousand men; and when we entered the evening, we had ten thousand Muslims. So, emigration was mentioned, and the Messenger of Allah (s) said: There is no emigration after the conquest of Mecca. He said: Then, we ended up in Hawazin, and the Prophet (s) said to `Ali b. Abi Talib (as): O `Ali! Stand, and look to your honour with Allah. Speak to the Sun once it rises. Ibn `Abbas said: By Allah, I did not envy anyone except `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) on that day. So, I said to Fadl: Stand up so that we may see how `Ali b. Abi Talib speaks to the Sun. So, when the Sun rose, `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) stood and said: Peace be unto you – O perpetual, obedient, and righteous servant – in the obedience of Allah, its Lord. So, the Sun replied to him, saying: And also with you, O brother and deputy of the Messenger of Allah, O Proof of Allah over His creation. So, `Ali (as) fell [weeping] in a prostration of gratitude toward Allah. He said: By Allah, I saw the Messenger of Allah (s) stand, take `Ali (as) by the head, help him stand up, and wipe his face, saying: Stand, my beloved, for you have made the people of heaven weep from your weeping. Allah has boasted to the carriers of the Throne about you.

15 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا  إبراهيم بن هاشم، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن مرار، قال: حدثني يونس بن عبد الرحمن، عن يونس بن يعقوب، قال: كان عند أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام) جماعة من أصحابه فيهم حمران بن أعين، ومؤمن الطاق، وهشام بن سالم، والطيار، وجماعة من أصحابه فيهم هشام بن الحكم وهو شاب، فقال أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام): يا هشام. قال: لبيك، يا بن رسول الله. قال: ألا تحدثني كيف صنعت بعمرو بن عبيد وكيف سألته. قال هشام: جعلت فداك يا بن رسول الله، إني أجلك وأستحييك، ولا يعمل لساني بين يديك. فقال أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام): إذا أمرتكم بشئ فافعلوه. قال: هشام: بلغني ما كان فيه عمرو بن عبيد وجلوسه في مسجد البصرة، وعظم ذلك علي، فخرجت إليه ودخلت البصرة في يوم الجمعة، فأتيت مسجد البصرة، فإذا أنا بحلقة كبيرة وإذا أنا بعمرو بن عبيد عليه شملة سوداء متزر بها من صوف، وشملة مرتد بها، والناس يسألونه، فاستفرجت الناس فأفرجوا لي، ثم قعدت في آخر القوم على ركبتي، ثم قلت: أيها العالم، أنا رجل غريب، تأذن لي فاسألك عن مسألة. قال: فقال: نعم. قال: قلت له: ألك عين؟ قال: يا بني، أي شئ هذا من السؤال؟ فقلت: هكذا مسألتي. فقال: يا بني سل، وإن كانت مسألتك حمقاء، فقلت: أجبني فيها. قال: لي: سل. فقلت: ألك عين؟ قال: نعم. قال: قلت: فما ترى بها؟ قال: الالوان والاشخاص. قال: قلت: ألك أنف؟ قال: نعم، قال: قلت: فما تصنع به؟ قال: أتشمم به الرائحة. قال: قلت: ألك فم؟ قال: نعم. قلت: وما تصنع به؟ قال: أعرف به طعم الاشياء. قال: قلت: ألك لسان؟ قال: نعم. قلت: وما تصنع به؟ قال: أتكلم به. قال: قلت: ألك أذن؟ قال: نعم. قلت: وما تصنع بها؟ قال: أسمع بها الاصوات. قال: قلت: ألك يد؟ قال: نعم. قلت وما تصنع بها؟ قال: أبطش بها. قال: قلت: ألك قلب؟ قال: نعم. قلت: وما تصنع به. قال: أميز به كل ما ورد على هذه الجوارح. قال: قلت: أفليس في هذه الجوارح غنى عن القلب؟ قال: لا، قلت: وكيف ذلك وهي صحيحة سليمة؟ قال: يا بني، إن الجوارح إذا شكت في شئ شمته أو رأته أو ذاقته أو سمعته أو لمسته ردته إلى القلب فييقن اليقين ويبطل الشك.  قال: فقلت: إنما أقام الله القلب لشك الجوارح؟ قال: نعم. قال: قلت: فلا بد من القلب، وإلا لم تستقم الجوارح؟ قال: نعم. قال: فقلت: يا أبا مروان، إن الله تعالى ذكره لم يترك جوارحك حتى جعل لها إماما، يصحح لها الصحيح وييقن ما تشك فيه، ويترك هذا الخلق كلهم (1) في حيرتهم وشكهم واختلافهم لا يقيم لهم إماما يردون إليه شكهم وحيرتهم، ويقيم لك إماما لجوارحك ترد إليه حيرتك وشكك؟! قال: فسكت ولم يقل شيئا. قال: ثم التفت إلي فقال: أنت هشام؟ فقلت: لا. فقال لي: أجالسته؟ فقلت: لا. قال: فمن أين أنت؟ قلت: من أهل الكوفة. قال: فأنت إذن هو. قال: ثم ضمني إليه وأقعدني في مجلسه، وما نطق حتى قمت. فضحك أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام) ثم قال: يا هشام، من علمك هذا؟ قال: فقلت: يا ابن رسول الله، جرى على لساني. قال: يا هشام، هذا والله مكتوب في صحف إبراهيم وموسى (2).

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us. He said: Isma`il b. Marar narrated to us. He said: Yunus b. `Abd al-Rahman narrated to me from Yunus b. Ya`qub. He said: Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) was with a group of his companions, among whom were Humran b. A`yun, Mu’min al-Taq, Hisham b. Salim, and al-Tayyar; and [another] group of his companions, among whom was Hisham b. al-Hakam, who was a youth. So, Abu `Abdillah (as) said: O Hisham! He said: I am at your service, O son of the Messenger of Allah. He said: Will you not inform me of what happened with `Amr b. `Ubayd and how you questioned him? Hisham said: May I be your sacrifice, O son of the Messenger of Allah. I am yours, and I am shy before you, and so I am tongue-tied when I am in front of you. So, Abu `Abdillah (as) said: When you are commanded a thing, then do it. Hisham said: I was informed of `Amr b. `Ubayd and his gatherings in the mosque of Basra, and that was weighty [and distressing] for me. So, I set out to him and I entered Basra on Friday and came to the mosque of Basra. I saw a large circle [of people] with `Amr b. `Ubayd, who was wearing a black woollen cloth around his waist and another over his shoulders. The people were posing questions to him. I asked the people to make way for me and they complied. Then, I sat in the back row upon my knees. I then said: O scholar, I am a stranger, will you give me permission to ask you a set of questions? He said: So, he said: Yes. He said: So, I said to him: Do you have eyes? He said: O my son, what kind of question is this? How do you question a thing that you can see? So, I said: This is my question. He said: O my son, ask, even if your question is absurd. He said: Answer me in that. He said: So, he said to me: Ask. He said: I said: Do you have eyes? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you see with it? He said: Colours and persons. He said: I said: Do you have a nose? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with it? He said: I smell scents with it. He said: I said: Do you have a tongue? He said: Yes. He said: I said: Do you have a nose? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with it? He said: I smell scents with it. He said: I said: Do you have a tongue? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with it? He said: I speak with it. He said: I said: Do you have ears? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with them? He said: I hear sounds with them. He said: I said: Do you have hands? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with them? He said: I press with them, and with them I know what is soft from what is coarse. He said: I said: Do you have feet? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with them? He said: I move from place to place with them. He said: I said: Do you have lips? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with them? He said: I distinguish foods by their differences with them. He said: I said: Do you have a heart? He said: Yes. He said: I said: What do you do with it? He said: With it I distinguish between all of that which my body parts detect. He said: I said: With these body parts, are you not needless of a heart? He said: No. I said: How can this be when they are ample? He said: O my son, if a body part doubts anything which it has smelt, tasted, or heard, they refer it to the heart to remove doubt and replace it with certainty. He said: I said: So, therefore, Allah has appointed the heart to [deal with] the doubts of the body parts. He said: Yes. He said: I said: And the heart is necessary, otherwise the body parts would never attain certainty. He said: Yes. He said: I said: O Abu Marwan, surely, Allah would not leave your body parts without appointing a leader (imam) for them so that they may verify the truth and attain certainty in what is doubted. So, how then could He leave all the creatures in their perplexity, doubt, and schisms without appointing an Imam, to whom they may refer their doubts and confusions to, when He has given the parts of your body a leader to whom you can refer your doubts and perplexities to? He said: So, he went silent and did not say anything to me. He said: Then, he looked to me and said: Are you Hisham? So, I said: No. He said: So, he said to me: Have you sat with him? So, I said: No. He said: So where are you from? I said: From the people of Kufa. He said: You, then, are he! He said: Then he embraced me, sat me in his seat, and did not speak until I stood [from it]. So, Abu `Abdillah (as) laughed. Then, he said: O Hisham, who has taught you this? He said: I said: O son of the Messenger of Allah, it rolled off my tongue. He said: O Hisham, this, by Allah, is written in the scrolls of Ibrahim and Musa.

16 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رحمه الله)، عن عمه محمد بن أبي القاسم، عن أحمد بن هلال، عن أحمد بن محمد، عن أبي نصر، عن أبان، عن زرارة وإسماعيل بن عباد القصري، عن سليمان الجعفي، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: لما أسري بالنبي (صلى الله عليه وآله)، وانتهى إلى حيث أراد الله تبارك وتعالى، ناجاه ربه جل جلاله، فلما أن هبط إلى السماء الرابعة ناداه: يا محمد، قال: لبيك ربي. قال له: من اخترت من أمتك يكون من بعدك لك خليفة؟ قال: اختر لي ذلك فتكون أنت المختار لي. فقال له: اخترت لك خيرتك علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام) (3).

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (rh) narrated to us from his uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim from Ahmad b. Hilal from Ahmad b. Muhammad from Abi Nasr from Aban from Zurara and Isma`il b. `Abbad al-Qasri from Sulayman al-Ju`fi from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: When the Prophet (s) was raised up, and he ended up where Allah willed for him, his Lord whispered to him. Then, when he descended to the fourth heaven, He called out to him: O Muhammad! He said: I am at your service, my Lord. He said to him: Who from your Nation have you chosen to be your vicegerent (khalifa) after you? He said: Choose that for me, so that You may be the decider for me. So, He said to him: I have chosen the best of you for you – `Ali b. Abi Talib (as).

17 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن جعفر الحميري، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن محمد، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن مجبوب، عن جميل بن صالح، عن عبد الله بن غالب، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: ينبغي للمؤمن أن يكون فيه ثمان خصال: وقور عند الهزاهز، صبور عند البلاء، شكور عند الرخاء، قانع بما رزقه الله، لا يظلم الاعداء، ولا يتحامل للاصدقاء، بدنه منه في تعب والناس منه في راحة، إن العلم خليل المؤمن، والحلم وزيره، والصبر أمير جنوده، والرفق أخوه، واللين والده (1).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutwakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Ja`far al-Himyari narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Muhammad narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan b. Mahbub narrated to us from Jamil b. Salih from `Abdullah b. Ghalib from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: A believer should have eight characteristics: (1) [they should be] dignified with calamities, (2) patient with tribulation, (3) thankful when relaxed, and (4) content with what Allah has given him of sustenance. (5) He should not wrong the enemies, and (6) he should not be a burden on his friends. (7) He should tire his body, and (8) the people should be at ease because of him. Surely, knowledge is the friend of the believer; forbearance is his vizier, patience is the commander of his forces, kindness is his brother, and gentleness is his father.

18 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثني علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي، عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، قال: حدثني عبد العظيم بن عبد الله الحسني، قال: حدثني الحسن بن عبد الله عن يونس بن ظبيان، قال: قال أبو عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام): لفاطمة (عليها السلام) تسعة أسماء عند الله عزوجل: فاطمة، والصديقة، والمباركة، والطاهرة، والزكية، والرضية، والمرضية، والمحدثة، والزهراء. ثم قال: تدري لاي شئ سميت فاطمة؟ قلت: أخبرني يا سيدي، قال: فطمت من الشر، قال: ثم قال: لولا أن أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) تزوجها لما كان لها كفو على وجه الارض إلى يوم القيامة، آدم فمن من دونه (2).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn al-Sa`d Abadi narrated to me from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi. He said: `Abd al-`Athim b. `Abdullah al-Hasani narrated to me He said: Al-Hasan b. `Abdullah narrated to me from Yunus b. Thibyan. He said: Abu `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) said: Fatima (as) has nine names with Allah: (1) Fatima, (2) Siddiqa (veracious), (3) Mubaraka (blessed), (4) Tahira (impeccable), (5) Zakiyya (pure), (6) Radiya (pleasing to Allah), (7) Mardiyya (pleased with Allah), (8) Muhaddatha (inspired), (9) Zahra (Illuminating). Then, he said: Do you know what is the meaning of Fatima? I said: Inform me, master. He said: She is weaned (fatimat) from evil.  Then, he said: Had Amir al-Mu’minin (as) not married her, she would not have a match on the face of the Earth until the Day of Resurrection, from Adam to those after him.

19 - حدثنا جعفر بن محمد بن مسرور (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن محمد بن عامر، عن معلي بن محمد البصري، عن أحمد بن محمد بن أبي نصر البزنطي، عن علي بن جعفر، قال: سمعت أبا الحسن موسى بن جعفر (عليه السلام) يقول: بينا رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) جالس إذا دخل عليه ملك له أربعة وعشرون وجها، فقال  له رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): حبيبي جبرئيل، لم أرك في مثل هذه الصورة؟ فقال المك: لست بجبرئيل، أنا محمود، بعثني الله عزوجل أن أزوج النور من النور. فقال (صلى الله عليه وآله): من ممن؟ قال: فاطمة من علي. قال: فلما ولى الملك إذا بين كتفيه: محمد رسول الله، علي وصيه. فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): منذ كم كتب هذا بين كتفيك. فقال: من قبل أن يخلق الله عزوجل آدم باثنين وعشرين ألف عام (1).

جالس...فقال

Ja`far b. Muhammad b. Masrur (rh) narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Muhammad b. `Amer narrated to us from Mu`alla b. Muhammad al-Basri from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr al-Bazanti from `Ali b. Ja`far. He said: I heard Aba’l Hasan Musa b. Ja`far (as) say: The Messenger of Allah (s) was sitting when an angel visited him. It had twenty-four faces. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to him: My beloved Gabriel, I have never seen you in this form. So, the angel said: I am not Gabriel. I am Mahmud. Allah sent me to marry the light to the light. So, he (s) said: Who to who? He said: Fatima to `Ali. He said: When he turned around, he saw that, between his shoulders, it was written: “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, `Ali is his deputy.” So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said: When was this written between your shoulders? So, he said: Twenty-two thousand years before Allah created Adam.
