1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، قال: حدثنا سهل بن زياد الآدمي، عن هارون بن مسلم، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن علي بن إسماعيل، قال: أخبرني أبو أسامة زيد الشحام، قال: سمعت أبا عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام) يقول: من أخر المغرب حتى تشتبك النجوم من غير علة، فأنا إلى الله منه برئ (1).

يقول

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Sahl b. Ziyad al-Adami narrated to us from Harun b. Muslim from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from `Ali b. Isma`il. He said: Abu Usama Zayd al-Shahham informed me. He said: I heard Aba `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) say: Whoever delays Maghrib without a reason until the stars come out, then surely, I dissociate from him to Allah.

2 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن محمد بن عيسى بن عبيد، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله الدهقان، عن درست بن أبي منصور، عن عبد الله بن سنان، قال: قال الصادق جعفر ابن محمد (عليهما السلام): لا تتخللوا بعود الريحان، ولا بقضيب الرمان، فإنهما يهيجان عرق الجذام (2).

الصادق جعفر بن محمد عليه السلام

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Isa b. `Ubayd from `Ubaydullah b. `Abdullah al-Dahqan from Darast b. Abi Mansur from `Abdullah b. Sinan. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: Do not use basil twigs nor pomegranate twigs as toothpicks, for they irritate the vein of leprosy.

3 - حدثنا أحمد بن زياد بن جعفر الهمداني (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن أبيه، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن حمزة بن حمران، قال: دخلت إلى الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام)، فقال لي: يا حمزة، من أين أقبلت؟ قلت له: من الكوفة. قال: فبكى (عليه السلام) حتى بلت دموعه لحيته، فقلت له: يا بن رسول الله، ما لك أكثرت البكاء؟ فقال: ذكرت عمي زيدا وما صنع به فبكيت. فقلت له: وما الذي ذكرت منه؟ فقال: ذكرت مقتله، وقد أصاب جبينه سهم، فجاءه ابنه يحيى فانكب عليه، وقال له: أبشر يا أبتاه، فإنك ترد على رسول الله وعلي وفاطمة والحسن والحسين (صلوات الله عليهم). قال: أجل يا بني، ثم دعا بحداد فنزع السهم من جبينه، فكانت نفسه معه، فجئ به إلى ساقية تجري عند بستان زائدة، فحفر له فيها ودفن، وأجرى عليه الماء وكان معهم غلام سندي لبعضهم، فذهب إلى يوسف ابن عمر من الغد فأخبره بدفنهم إياه، فأخرجه يوسف بن عمر فصلبه في الكناسة أربع سنين، ثم أمر به فأحرق بالنار، وذري في الرياح، فلعن الله قاتله وخاذله، وإلى الله جل اسمه أشكو ما نزل بنا أهل بيت نبيه بعد موته، وبه نستعين على عدونا، وهو خير مستعان (1).

قال دخلت إلى

Ahmad b. Ziyad b. Ja`far al-Hamadani (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Hamza b. Humran. He said: I visited Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as), so he said to me: O Hamza! Where have you come forward from? I said to him: From Kufa. He said: So, he (as) wept until his tears soaked his beard. So, I said to him: O son of the Messenger of Allah! Why have you wept so much? So, he said: I remembered my uncle, Zayd, and what they did to him, so I wept. So, I said: What did you remember from that? So, he said: I remembered his killing. He was struck on his forehead with an arrow, so his son Yahya came to him and bent over him, and said to him: “Be glad, father, for you will be sent to the Messenger of Allah, `Ali, Fatima, al-Hasan, and al-Husayn (s).” He said: “Yes, my son.” Then, he called for a blacksmith, who took the arrow out of his forehead; and his soul went with it. He was taken to a waterwheel that flowed at a garden, and he was buried there as the water flowed over him. One of them had a servant from Sindh, and he went to Yusuf b. `Umar (the Umayyad governor) the next morning and informed him of his burial. So, Yusuf b. `Umar exhumed him and crucified him in Kunasa for four years. Then, it was ordered that he be burned and [his ashes] thrown into the wind. May Allah curse his killers and betrayers, and I complain to Allah of what has happened to the Ahl al-Bayt of His Prophet after his passing. We seek His help over our enemies, and He is the best helper.

4 - حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن إسحاق (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن محمد الهمداني، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن القاسم قراءة، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن المعلي، قال: حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن خالد، قال: حدثنا عبد الله بن بكر المرادي، عن موسى بن جعفر، عن أبيه، عن جده، عن علي بن الحسين (عليهم السلام)، قال: بينا أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) ذات يوم جالس مع أصحابه يعبئهم للحرب، إذ أتاه شيخ عليه شحبة السفر، فقال: أين أمير المؤمنين؟ فقيل: هو ذا. فسلم عليه، ثم قال: يا أمير المؤمنين، إني أتيتك من ناحية الشام، وأنا شيخ كبير، قد سمعت فيك من الفضل ما لا أحصي، وإني أظنك ستغتال، فعلمني مما علمك الله. قال (عليه السلام): نعم يا شيخ، من اعتدل يوماه فهو مغبون، ومن كانت الدنيا همته  اشتدت حسرته عند فراقها، ومن كان غده شر يوميه فمحروم، ومن لم يبال بما زرى (1) من آخرته إذا سلمت له دنياه فهو هالك، ومن لم يتعاهد النقص من نفسه غلب عليه الهوى، ومن كان في نقص فالموت خير له. يا شيخ، إن الدنيا خضرة حلوة ولها أهل، وإن الآخرة لها أهل ظلفت (2) أنفسهم عن مفاخرة أهل الدنيا، لا يتنافسون في الدنيا، ولا يفرحون بغضارتها، ولا يحزنون لبؤسها. يا شيخ، من خاف البيات قل نومه، ما أسرع الليالي والايام في عمر العبد! فاخزن لسانك وعد كلامك، يقل كلامك إلا بخير. يا شيخ، أرض للناس ما ترضى لنفسك، وأت إلى الناس ما تحب أن يؤتى إليك. ثم أقبل على أصحابه، فقال: أيها الناس، أما ترون إلى أهل الدنيا يمسون ويصبحون على أحوال شتى، فبين صريع يتلوى، وبين عائد ومعود، وآخر بنفسه يجود، وآخر لا يرجى، وآخر مسجى، وطالب الدنيا والموت يطلبه، وغافل وليس بمغفول عنه، وعلى أثر الماضي يصير الباقي. فقال له زيد ين صوحان العبدي: يا أمير المؤمنين، أي سلطان أغلب وأقوى؟ قال: الهوى. قال: فأي ذل أذل؟ قال: الحرص على الدنيا. قال: فأي فقر أشد؟ قال: الكفر بعد الايمان. قال: فأي دعوة أضل؟ قال: الداعي بما لا يكون قال: فأي عمل أفضل؟ قال: التقوى. قال: فأي عمل أنجح؟ قال: طلب ما عند الله. قال: فأي صاحب شر؟ قال: المزين لك معصية الله، قال: فأي الخلق أشقى؟ قال: من باع دينه بدنيا غيره. قال: فأي الخلق أقوى؟ قال: الحليم، قال: فأي الخلق أشح؟ قال: من أخذ المال من غير حله، فجعله في غير حقه. قال: فأي الناس أكيس؟ قال: من أبصر رشده من غيه، فمال إلى رشده. قال: فمن أحلم الناس؟ قال: الذي لا يغضب. قال: فأي الناس أثبت  رأيا؟ قال: من لم يغره الناس من نفسه ولم تغره الدنيا بتشوفها (1). قال: فأي الناس أحمق؟ قال: المغتر بالدنيا وهو يرى ما فيه من تقلب أحوالها. قال: فأي الناس أشد حسرة؟ قال: الذي حرم الدنيا والآخرة، ذلك هو الخسران المبين. قال: فأي الخلق أعمى؟ قال: الذي عمل لغير الله يطلب بعلمه الثواب من عند الله عز وجل. قال: فأي القنوع أفضل؟ قال: القانع بما أعطاه الله. قال: فأي المصائب أشد؟ قال: المصيبة بالدين. قال فأي الاعمال أحب ألى الله عز وجل؟ قال: انتظار الفرج. قال: فأي الناس خير عند الله عز وجل؟ قال: أخوفهم لله، وأعملهم بالتقوى، وأزدهم في الدنيا. قال: فأي الكلام أفضل عند الله عز وجل؟ قال: كثرة ذكره والتضرع إليه ودعاؤه. قال: فأي القول أصدق؟ قال: شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله. قال: فأي الاعمال أعظم عند الله عز وجل؟ قال: التسليم والورع. قال: فأي الناس أكرم؟ قال: من صدق في المواطن. ثم أقبل (عليه السلام) على الشيخ، فقال: يا شيخ، إن الله عز وجل خلق خلقا ضيق الدنيا عليهم نظرا لهم، فزهدهم فيها وفي حطامها، فرغبوا في دار السلام الذي دعاهم إليه، وصبروا على ضيق المعيشة، وصبروا على المكروه، واشتاقوا إلى ما عند الله من الكرامة، وبذلوا أنفسهم ابتغاء رضوان الله، وكانت خاتمة أعمالهم الشهادة فلقوا الله وهو عنهم راض، وعلموا أن الموت سبيل من مضى ومن بقي، فتزودوا لآخرتهم غير الذهب والفضة، ولبسوا الخشن، وصبروا على القوت، وقدموا الفضل، وأحبوا في الله عز وجل، وأبغضوا في الله عز وجل، أولئك المصابيح وأهل النعيم في الآخرة، والسلام. فقال الشيخ: فأين أذهب وأدع الجنة، وأنا أراها وأرى أهلها معك يا أمير المؤمنين؟ جهزني بقوة أتقوى بها على عدوك. فأعطاه أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) سلاحا وحمله، فكان في الحرب بين يدي أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) يضرب قدما، وأمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) يعجب مما يصنع، فلما اشتدت الحرب أقدم فرسه حتى  قتل (رحمه الله) وتبعه رجل من أصحاب أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام)، فوجده صريعا، ووجد دابته، ووجد سيفه في ذراعه، فلما انقضت الحرب أتى أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) بدابته وسلاحه، وصلى أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) عليه، وقال: هذا والله السعيد حقا، فترحموا على أخيكم (1).

أمير المؤمنين عليه السلام

Muhammad b. Ibrahim b. Ishaq (ra) narrated to us. He said: Ahmad b. Muhammad al-Hamadani narrated to us. He said: Al-Hasan b. al-Qasim narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. al-Mu`alla narrated to us. He said: Abu `Abdillah Muhammad b. Khalid narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Bakr al-Muradi narrated to us from Musa b. Ja`far from his father from his randfather from `Ali b. al-Husayn (as). He said: One day, Amir al-Mu’minin (as) was sitting with his companions and mobilizing them for war, when an elder came to him who had the signs of travel on him. So, he said: Where is Amir al-Mu’minin (as)? So, it was said: He is there. So, he greeted him, then said: O Amir al-Mu’minin! I have come to you from the direction of the Levant, and I am a very elderly man. I have heard countless merits about you, and I believe that you will surely be killed, so teach me what Allah has taught you. He (as) said: Yes, elder. Whoever makes two days the same [without progress] has lost. Whoever makes this world his concern, his protectiveness over it will only intensify when he departs from it. Whoever makes tomorrow worse than today has deprived himself. Whoever does not mind neglecting his Hereafter when his world submits itself to him is destroyed. Whoever does not prohibit deficiency for himself is conquered by his appetite. Whoever is in deficiency, then death is better for him. O elder! This world is green, sweet, and it has its people, while the Hereafter has people that have exonerated themselves from the pride of the people of this world. They do not compete over this world, nor do they rejoice in its arrogance, nor do they grieve in its misery. O elder! Whoever fears sleep lessens his sleep. How fast are the nights and the days in the age of a worshiper! So, stow away your tongue, count your words, and lessen your words except in goodness. O elder! Want for the people what you want for yourself and come to the people in the way that you would like to be come to.  Then, he turned to his companions and said: O people! Do you not see how the people of this world go to sleep and wake up upon different conditions? Some are writhing and close to death, some visit the ill and then are visited in their illness; one is striving, another cannot be hoped for [of anything good], another is lying down; some seek this world whilst they are sought by death, some are heedless but [the record is] not heedless of them, and the future is patterned on the past [behaviours]. So, Zayd b. Sawhan al-`Abdi said to him: O Amir al-Mu’minin! Which power is dominant and strong? He said: Desire. He said: So, which is weakest? He said: Protectiveness over this world. He said: Which poverty is most intense? He said: Disbelief after faith. He said: Which call is most deviant? He said: The call to that which does not exist. He said: Which deed is most virtuous? He said: God-wariness. He said: Which deed is most triumphant? He said: Seeking that which is with Allah. He said: Which companion is most evil? He said: He who adorns the disobedience of Allah. He said: Which creation is most wretched? He said: He who sells his religion for a world that is not his. He said: Which creation is strongest? He said: The forbearing. He said: Which creation is the most miserly? He said: He who earns wealth unlawfully and spends it wrongfully. He said: Which of the people is most elegant? He said: He who sees guidance and misguidance, and inclines toward guidance. He said: Who is the most forbearing of people? He said: He who does not become angry. He said: Which of the people has the most steadfast of opinion? He said: He whose appetite is not deceived by the people and cannot be tempted by looking at this world. He said: Which of the people is most foolish? He said: He who is deceived by this world despite seeing its constant changes. He said: Which of the people have the most grief? He said: He who prohibits this world and the Hereafter [for himself] – he is the evident failure. He said: Which of the creation is the most blind? He said: He who acts for other than Allah and expects to receive the reward with Allah. He said: Which contentedness is best? He said: He who is content with what Allah has given him. He said: Which affliction is most intense? He said: Affliction in religion. He said: Which action is most beloved to Allah? He said: Awaiting the relief (the coming of the Mahdi). He said: Which of the people are best with Allah? He said: He who fears Allah the most, is most wary of Him, and is most ascetic in this world. He said: Which words are best with Allah? He said: Frequent remembrance of Him, calling out to Him, and supplicating to Him. He said: Which saying is most truthful? He said: The testimony that there is no god but Allah (la ilaha illallah). He said: Which deeds are most great with Allah? He said: Obsequiousness and piety. He said: Which of the people is most noble? He said: He who is truthful among the nations. Then, he (as) proceeded to the elder, and said: O elder! Allah created a creature and gave them a scarce world as a lesson for them. So, they abstained from it and its debris. They desired the Abode of Peace, which they are called to. They patiently bore the scarcity, they patiently bore hateful things, and they longed for the bounties that are with Allah. They exerted themselves to achieve the pleasure of Allah. The last of their deeds was martyrdom, so they met Allah whilst He was pleased with them. They knew that death was a path for those who have passed and those who remain, so they avoided gold and silver for their Hereafter, they wore rough clothing, they were patient with their sustenance, they put forward virtuousness, they loved for the sake of Allah, and they hated for the sake of Allah – these are the light posts and the people of bliss in the Hereafter. Peace [be with you]. So, the elder said: So, where shall I go to find Paradise when I see it and its people with you, O Amir al-Mu’minin? Equip me with power so that I may overcome your enemy. So, Amir al-Mu’minin (as) gave him weapons and had him mounted. So, he was in front of Amir al-Mu’minin (as) in the war, striking ahead of him. Amir al-Mu’minin (as) was astonished with what he was doing. When the war intensified, he proceeded with his horse until he was killed (rh). A man from the companions of Amir al-Mu’minin (as) followed him and saw him dead. He saw his animal and he saw his sword in his arm. When the war subsided, he came to Amir al-Mu’minin (as) with his animal and his weapon. Amir al-Mu’minin (as) prayed over him and said: He, by Allah, is truly happy, so pray for mercy for your brother.

5 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني سعد بن عبد الله، عن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن الحسين بن يزيد النوفلي، عن إسماعيل بن أبي زياد السكوني، عن جعفر ابن محمد، عن أبيه (عليهما السلام): أن النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) صلى على سعد بن معاذ، فقال: لقد وافى من الملائكة للصلاة عليه تسعون ألف ملك، وفيهم جبرئيل يصلون عليه. فقلت: يا جبرئيل، بما استحق صلاتكم عليه؟ قال: بقراءته (2) (قل هو الله أحد) قائما وقائدا وراكبا وماشيا وذاهبا وجائيا (3).

صلى على سعد بن معاذ فقال

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Ibrahim b. Hashim from al-Husayn b. Yazid al-Nawfali from Isma`il b. Abi Ziyad al-Sukuni from Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father (as). The Prophet (s) prayed over Sa`d b. Mu`adh and said: Ninety thousand angels including Gabriel (as) prayed over him, so I said: “O Gabriel, what made him deserve your praying over him?” So, he said: “He would read qul huwallahu ahad whenever he stood, sat, rode, walked, went, and came back.”

6 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن أحمد بن محمد بن أبي نصر البزنطي، عن داود بن سرحان قال: قال أبو عبد الله (عليه السلام): لا ينبغي للمرأة أن تعطل نفسها، ولو أن تعلق في عنقها قلادة، ولا ينبغي أن تدع يدها من الخضاب، ولو أن تمسها بالحناء مسا، وإن كانت مسنة (4).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr al-Bazanti from Dawud b. Sarhan. He said: Abu `Abdillah (as) said: It is not appropriate for a woman to be without ornament, even if she just hangs a necklace on her neck. It is not appropriate for her to leave off dyeing her hand, even if she just wipes it once with henna, even if she has aged.

7 - وبهذا الاسناد، عن أحمد بن محمد بن أبي نصر البزنطي، عن مفضل ابن عمر، عن جابر بن يزيد، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: إذا كان حين (5) يبعث الله تبارك وتعالى شأنه العباد أتي بالايام، تعرفها الخلائق باسمها وحليتها، ويقدمها يوم الجمعة له نور ساطع، تتبعه سائر الايام كأنها عروس كريمة ذات وقار تهدى إلى  ذي حلم ويسار، ثم يكون يوم الجمعة شاهدا وحافظا لمن سارع إلى الجمعة، ثم يدخل المؤمنون إلى الجنة على قدر سبقهم إلى الجمعة (1).

قال

By this isnad from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Abi Nasr al-Bazanti from Mufaddal b. `Umar from Jabir b. Yazid from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said: When Allah resurrects His worshipers, He will start with the days. The creatures will know them by their names and their adornment. They will be preceded by Friday, which will have a dazzling light, and the rest of the days will follow it as though it is a noble bride with poise that guides those of restraint and clemency. Then, Friday will be a witness for those who hurried to the Friday prayer. Then, the believers will be taken to Paradise in accordance with their precession to the Friday prayer.

8 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد ابن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن بشير البجلي، عن أبان، عن عبد الرحمن بن أعين، عن أبي جعفر الباقر (عليه السلام)، أنه قال: لقد غفر الله عز وجل لرجل من أهل البادية بكلمتين دعا بهما، قال: اللهم إن تعذبني فأهل ذلك أنا، وإن تغفر لي فأهل ذلك أنت، فغفر الله له (2).

أنه قال

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. Bashir al-Bajali narrated to us from Aban from `Abd al-Rahman b. A`yan from Abi Ja`far al-Baqir (as). He said: Allah forgave a man from the people of the desert because of two phrases he would supplicate with: “O Allah! If You punish me, then that is what I deserve, but if You forgive me, then that is what You deserve (Allahumma in tu`adhibani fa ahl dhalik ana, wa in tughfir li fa ahl dhalik anta).” So, Allah forgave him.

9 - حدثنا محمد بن علي ماجيلويه (رضي الله عنه)، عن عمه محمد بن أبي القاسم، عن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله، عن أبيه، عن عبد الله بن المغيرة ومحمد بن سنان، عن طلحة بن زيد، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: كان أبي (عليه السلام)، يقول: ما شئ أفسد للقلب من الخطيئة، إن القلب ليواقع الخطيئة، فما تزال به حتى تغلب عليه، فيصير أسفله أعلاه، وأعلاه أسفله (3).

Muhammad b. `Ali Majiluwayh (ra) narrated to us from his uncle Muhammad b. Abi’l Qasim from Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from his father from `Abdullah b. al-Mughira and Muhammad b. Sinan from Talha b. Zayd from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: My father (as) would say: There is nothing more corrupting to the heart than sin. Sin settles in the heart and remains there until it overcomes it, turning it upside down.

10 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن محمد بن خالد، عن أحمد بن النضر الخزاز، عن عمرو بن شمر، عن جابر، عن أبي جعفر (عليه السلام)، قال: كان غلام من اليهود يأتي النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) كثيرا حتى استحبه (4)، وربما أرسله في حاجة، وربما كتب له الكتاب إلى قوم، فافتقده أياما، فسأل عنه، فقال له قائل: تركته في آخر يوم من أيام الدنيا. فأتاه النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) في ناس من أصحابه، وكان (عليه السلام) بركة لا يكاد يكلم أحدا إلا أجابه، فقال: يا فلان، ففتح عينيه، وقال: لبيك يا أبا القاسم، قال: اشهد أن لا  إله إلا الله، وأني رسول الله، فنظر الغلام إلى أبيه، فلم يقل له شيئا، ثم ناداه رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) الثانية، وقال له مثل قوله الاول، فالتفت الغلام إلى أبيه فلم يقل له شيئا، ثم ناداه رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) الثالثة فالتفت الغلام إلى أبيه، فقال أبوه: إن شئت فقل: وإن شئت فلا. فقال الغلام: أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأنك محمدا رسول الله، ومات مكانه. فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) لابيه: اخرج عنا. ثم قال (صلى الله عليه وآله) لاصحابه: غسلوه وكفنوه، واتوني به أصلي عليه، ثم خرج وهو يقول: الحمد لله الذي أنجى بي اليوم نسمة من النار (1).

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Muhammad b. Khalid from Ahmad b. al-Nadr al-Khazzaz from `Amr b. Shimr from Jabir from Abi Ja`far (as). He said: There was a Jewish boy who would come frequently to the Prophet (s) until he loved him. Sometimes, he would send him off for a need, and sometimes, he would have him write a letter to a people. He did not come for some days, so he asked about him. So, someone said to him: You have left him in the last day from the days of this world. So, the Prophet (s) went to him with people from his companions – and among his (as) blessings is that he would always respond to those who address him. So, he said: O so-and-so. So, he opened his eyes and said: I am at your service, Aba’l Qasim. He said: Bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that I am the Messenger of Allah. So, the boy looked to his father and did not say anything. Then, the Messenger of Allah (s) called to him a second time and said the same thing that he said the first time. So, the boy looked to his father and did not say anything to him. Then, the Messenger of Allah (s) called to him a third time. The boy looked to his father, and his father said: If you want, say it; and if you want, do not say it. So, the boy said: I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and that you, Muhammad, are the Messenger of Allah. Then, he died in his place. So, the Messenger of Allah (s) said to his father: Leave us. Then, he (s) said to his companions: Wash him and shroud him, then bring him to me so that I may pray over him. Then, he left, saying: Praise be to Allah who delivered a soul from the Fire through me today.

11 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن علي بن الحكم، عن إسماعيل المنقري، عن جده زياد بن أبي زياد، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: من أكل الطين فإنه تقع الحكة في جسده، ويورثه البواسير، ويهيج عليه داء السوء، ويذهب بالقوة من ساقيه وقدميه، وما نقص من عمله فيما بينه وبين صحته قبل أن يأكله حوسب عليه وعذب به (2).

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from `Ali b. al-Hakam from Isma`il al-Munqari from his grandfather Ziyad b. Abi Ziyad from Abi Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali al-Baqir (as). He said: Whoever eats clay will find his body itching, he will have hemorrhoids, a bad malady will irritate him, he will lose power in his legs and feet, and his health will deteriorate so much that his work will decrease, difficulty will consume him, and he will suffer.

12 - حدثنا جعفر بن علي بن الحسن بن علي بن عبد الله بن المغيرة الكوفي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثني جدي الحسن بن علي، عن جده عبد الله بن المغيرة، عن إسماعيل بن مسلم، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): أربع لا تدخل بيتا واحدة منهن إلا خرب ولم يعمر بالبركة: الخيانة، والسرقة، وشرب الخمر، والزنا (3).

Ja`far b. `Ali b. al-Hasan b. `Ali b. `Abdullah b. al-Mughira al-Kufi (ra) narrated to us. He said: My grandfather al-Hasan b. `Ali narrated to us from his grandfather `Abdullah b. al-Mughira from Isma`il b. Muslim from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: There are four things that will not enter a household except that it will ruin it, and it cannot be built up in blessing: (1) betrayal, (2) thievery, (3) drinking wine, and (4) adultery.

13 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي،  عن محمد بن أحمد بن يحيى بن عمران الاشعري، عن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن عمرو ابن عثمان، عن محمد بن عذافر، عن أبي حمزة، عن علي بن الحزور، عن القاسم، عن أبي سعيد الخدري، قال: أتت فاطمة (عليها السلام) النبي (صلى الله عليه وآله) فذكرت عنده ضعف الحال، فقال لها: أما تدرين ما منزلة علي عندي؟ كفاني أمري وهو ابن اثنتي عشرة سنة، وضرب بين يدي بالسيف وهو ابن ست عشرة سنة، وقتل الابطال وهو ابن تسع عشرة سنة، وفرج همومي وهو ابن عشرين سنة، ورفع باب خيبر وهو ابن اثنتين وعشرين سنة، وكان لا يرفعه خمسون رجلا، قال: فأشرق لون فاطمة (عليها السلام) ولم تقر قدماها حتى أتت عليا (عليه السلام) فأخبرته، فقال: كيف لو حدثك (1) بفضل الله علي كله! (2)

فذكرت عنده ضعف الحال فقال

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. Ahmad b. Yahya b. `Imran al-Ash`ari from Ibrahim b. Hashim from `Amr b. `Uthman from Muhammad b. `Adhafir from Abi Hamza from `Ali b. al-Hazur from al-Qasim from Abi Sa`id al-Khudri. He said: Fatima (as) went to the Prophet (s) and she mentioned weakness in her condition. So, he said to her: Do you not see what `Ali's rank is to me? He was sufficient for me [as a follower] when he was only twelve years old. He fought in front of me with the sword when he was only sixteen years old. He fought champions when he was only nineteen years old. He relieved me of my worries when he was twenty years old. He lifted the gate of Khaybar when he was twenty-two years old, even though fifty men could not lift it. So, the colour of Fatima (as) brightened, and she did not move until she met `Ali (as), and she informed him [about what was said]. So, `Ali (as) said: How would it be if he informed you of all that Allah has bestowed upon me!

14 - وبهذا الاسناد، عن محمد بن أحمد، عن عمر بن علي بن عمر بن يزيد، عن عمه محمد بن عمر، عن أبيه، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): من وصل أحدا من أهل بيتي في دار هذه الدنيا بقيراط، كافيته يوم القيامة بقنطار (3).

By this isnad from Muhammad b. Ahmad from `Amr b. `Ali b. `Umar b. Yazid from his uncle Muhammad b. `Umar from his father from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as) from his forefathers (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Whoever gives one carat to one from my Ahl al-Bayt in this world will be rewarded on the Day of Resurrection with a kantar.

15 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا عبد الله ابن جعفر الحميري، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن الحسن بن مجبوب، عن خالد بن جرير، عن أبي الربيع، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): لا ينال شفاعتي غدا من أخر الصلاة المفروضة بعد وقتها (4).

Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakkil (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Abdullah b. Ja`far al-Himyari narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from al-Hasan b. Mahbub from Khalid b. Jarir from Abi’l Rabi` from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: My intercession anon will not be given to one who delays his obligatory prayers after their timing.

16 - حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن ناتانه (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن محمد بن عيسى بن عبيد اليقطيني، عن زكريا المؤمن، عن ابن ناجية، عن داود بن النعمان، عن عبد الرحمن بن سيابة، عن ناجية، قال: قال أبو جعفر  الباقر (عليه السلام): إذا صليت العصر يوم الجمعة، فقل: اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمد الاوصياء المرضيين، بأفضل صلواتك، وبارك عليهم بأفضل بركاتك، والسلام عليهم وعلى أرواحهم وأجسادهم ورحمة الله وبركاته. فإن من قالها بعد العصر كتب الله عز وجل له مائة ألف حسنة، ومحا عنه مائة ألف سيئة، وقضى له بها مائة ألف حاجة، ورفع له بها مائة ألف درجة (1).

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Natana (rh) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from Muhammad b. `Isa b. `Ubayd al-Yaqtini from Zakariyya al-Mu’min from Ibn Najiya from Dawud b. al-Nu`man from `Abd al-Rahman b. Siyaba from Najiya. He said: Abu Ja`far al-Baqir (as) said: When you pray `Asr on Friday, then say: “O Allah! Bless Muhammad and the Family of Muhammad, the deputies whom Allah is pleased with, with the best of Your blessings. Send benedictions to them with the best of Your benedictions. Peace be with them, their spirits, their bodies, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings (Allahumma salli `ala Muhammadin wa aali Muhammad al-awsiya al-murdiyyin bi afdal salawatik, wa baarik `alayhum bi afdal barakatik, wassalaam `alayhum wa `ala arwahuhum wa ajsaduhum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh).” Whoever says this after `Asr, Allah records one hundred thousand good deeds for him, erases one hundred thousand sins from him, fulfills one hundred thousand needs for him, and raises him by one hundred thousand degrees.

17 - حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن أحمد بن هشام المؤدب (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبو العباس أحمد بن يحيى بن زكريا القطان، قال: حدثنا بكر بن عبد الله بن حبيب، قال: حدثنا تميم بن بهلول، قال: حدثنا جعفر بن عثمان الاحول، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن مهران، قال: دخلت على الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام) وعنده نفر من الشيعة، فسمعته وهو يقول: معاشر الشيعة، كونوا لنا زينا، ولا تكونوا علينا شينا، قولوا للناس حسنا، واحفظوا ألسنتكم وكفوها عن الفضول وقبيح القول (2).

و عنده نفر من الشيعة فسمعته و هو يقول

Al-Husayn b. Ibrahim b. Ahmad b. Hashim al-Mu’addab (ra) narrated to us. He said: Abu’l `Abbas Ahmad b. Yahya b. Zakariyya al-Qattan narrated to us. He said: Bakr b. `Abdullah b. Habib narrated to us. He said: Tamim b. Bahlul narrated to us. He said: Ja`far b. `Uthman al-Ahwal narrated to us. He said: Sulayman b. Mehran narrated to us. He said: I visited al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as), and with him was a delegation of Shi`a. So, I heard him say: O Shi`a! Be an adornment for us, and do not be a disgrace for us. Speak beautifully to the people. Guard your tongues and stop them from superfluous and ugly sayings.

18 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، ومحمد بن موسى بن المتوكل، ومحمد بن علي ماجيلويه، وأحمد بن علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم، وأحمد بن زياد بن جعفر الهمداني، والحسين بن إبراهيم بن ناتانه (رضي الله عنهم)، قالوا: حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن أبيه إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن أبي هدبة، عن أنس بن مالك، قال: قال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): طوبى لمن رآني، وطوبى لمن رأى من رآني، وطوبى لمن رأى من رأى من رآني. وقد أخرج علي بن إبراهيم هذا الحديث وحديث الطير، بهذا الاسناد، في كتاب (قرب الاسناد) (3).

Natana (ra) narrated to us. They said: `Ali b. Ibrahim b. Hashim narrated to us from Ibrahim b. Hashim from Abi Habda from Anas b. Malik. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) said: Tuba is for he who sees me. Tuba is for he who sees one who has seen me. Tuba is for he who sees one who has seen one who has seen me. `Ali b. Ibrahim brought this hadith and the hadith al-tayr by this isnad in the book Qurb al-Isnad.
