1 - حدثنا الشيخ الجليل أبو جعفر محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن موسى ابن بابويه القمي (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين بن شاذويه المؤدب (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن جعفر بن جامع الحميري، عن أبيه، قال: حدثني يعقوب بن يزيد، عن محمد بن أبي عمر، عن أبان بن عثمان، عن أبان بن تغلب، عن عكرمة، عن ابن عباس، قال: لما مضى لعيسى (عليه السلام) ثلاثون سنة، بعثه الله عز وجل إلى بني إسرائيل، فلقيه إبليس (لعنه الله) على عقبة بيت المقدس، وهي عقبة أفيق (1)، فقال الله يا عيسى أنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أن تكونت من غير أب؟ قال عيسى (عليه السلام): بل العظمة للذي كونني، وكذلك كون آدم وحواء. قال إبليس: يا عيسى، فأنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أنك تكلمت في المهد صبيا؟ قال عيسى (عليه السلام): يا إبليس. بل العظمة للذي أنطقني في صغري ولو شاء لابكمني.  قال إبليس: فأنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أنك تخلق من الطين كهيئة الطير، فتنفخ فيه فيصير طيرا؟ قال عيسى (عليه السلام): بل العظمة للذي خلقني وخلق ما سخر لي. قال إبليس: فأنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أنك تشقي المرضى؟ قال عيسى (عليه السلام): بل العظمة للذي بإذنه أشفيهم، وإذا شاء أمرضني. قال إبليس: فأنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أنك تحيي الموتى؟ قال عيسى (عليه السلام): بل العظمة للذي بإذنه أحييهم، ولا بد من أن يميت ما أحييت، ويميتني. قال إبليس: يا عيسى، فأنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أنك تعبر البحر فلا تبتل قدماك ولا ترسخ فيه؟ قال عيسى (عليه السلام): بل العظمة للذي ذلله لي ولو شاء أغرقني. قال إبليس: يا عيسى، فأنت الذي بلغ من عظم ربوبيتك أنه سيأتي عليك يوم تكون السماوات والارض ومن فيهن دونك، وأنت فوق ذلك كله تدبر الامر وتقسم الارزاق؟ فأعظم عيسى (عليه السلام) ذلك من قول إبليس الكافر اللعين، فقال عيسى (عليه السلام): سبحان الله ملء سماواته وأرضيه، ومداد كلماته، وزنة عرشه، ورضا نفسه. قال: فلما سمع إبليس (لعنه الله) ذلك ذهب على وجهه لا يملك من نفسه شيئا حتى وقع في اللجة الخضراء. قال ابن عباس، فخرجت امرأة من الجن تمشي على شاطئ البحر، فإذا هي بإبليس ساجدا على صخرة صماء تسيل دموعه على خدية، فقامت تنظر إليه تعجبا، ثم قالت له: ويحك يا إبليس، ما ترجو بطول السجود؟ فقال لها: أيتها المرأة الصالحة، ابنة الرجل الصالح، أرجو إذا أبر ربي عز وجل قسمه، وأدخلني نار جهنم، أن يخرجني من النار برحمته (1).

Abu Ja`far Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Musa b. Babuwayh al-Qummi (ra) narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. al-Husayn b. Shadhuwayh al-Mu’addab (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far b. Jami` al-Himyari narrated to us from his father. He said: Ya`qub b. Yazid narrated to me from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Aban b. `Uthman from Aban b. Taghlub from `Ikrama from Ibn `Abbas. He said: When `Isa reached thirty years of age, Allah sent him to the Children of Israel. So, Iblis (la) came to him at a stop of Bayt al-Maqdis, which was the stop of Afek. So, he said: O `Isa! Are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – was able to be created without a father? `Isa (as) said: Rather, the greatness belongs to the One who created me; that is how Adam and Hawwa’ were created [as well]. Iblis said: O `Isa! Are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – was able to speak in the cradle as a child? `Isa (as) said: O Iblis! Rather, the greatness belongs to the One who gave me speech in my childhood; and if He willed, He could have made me mute. Iblis said: So, are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – were able to create the form of a bird out of clay, blew into it, and it was able to fly? `Isa (as) said: Rather, the greatness belongs to the One who created me and created what He subjected to me. Iblis said: So, are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – cure the ill? `Isa (as) said: Rather, the greatness belongs to the One by whose permission I cured them; and if He willed, He could have made me ill. Iblis said: So, are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – is able to resurrect the dead? `Isa (as) said: Rather, the greatness belongs to the One by whose permission I resurrected them; there is nothing stopping Him from causing those I resurrected to die and causing me to die. Iblis said: O `Isa! Are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – is able to walk on the sea without wetting your feet and without sinking in it? `Isa (as) said: Rather, the greatness belongs to the One who overcame it for me; and if He willed, He could have drowned me. Iblis said: O `Isa! Are you the one who – by the greatness of your lordship – will rule over the heavens and the Earth one day; and you will be above all that, running the affairs and distributing sustenance [to the world]? So, `Isa (as) became astounded at the words of Iblis, the accursed disbeliever, so `Isa (as) said: Glorified is Allah – His glory fills His heavens and His Earth, the extension of His words, the weight of His Throne, and His contentment. He said: So, when Iblis (la) heard that, he went on his face, not possessing anything, until he fell into the green ocean. Ibn `Abbas said: A female Jinn walked on the shore of the ocean, seeing Iblis prostrating upon a solid rock, with tears flowing on his cheeks. She looked at him astonishingly, went to him and said to him: Woe to you, Iblis! What do you hope for in a long prostration? So, he said to her: O righteous woman, daughter of a righteous man: I hope that, if I am good to my Lord, and He admits me to the Fire, that He takes me out of the Fire out of His mercy.

2 - حدثنا أحمد بن هارون الفامي، قال حدثنا محمد بن عبد الله بن جعفر بن جامع، عن أبيه، عن إبراهيم بن هاشم، عن محمد بن أبي عمير، عن إبراهيم  ابن زياد الكرخي، قال: قال الصادق جعفر بن محمد (عليهما السلام): إذا كان يوم القيامة نشر الله تبارك وتعالى رحمته حتى يطمع إبليس في رحمته (1).

Ahmad b. Harun al-Fami narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. `Abdullah b. Ja`far b. Jai` narrated to us from his father from Ibrahim b. Hashim from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from Ibrahim b. Ziyad al-Karkhi. He said: Al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad (as) said: On the Day of Resurrection, Allah will spread His mercy to the point where Iblis will hope for His mercy.

3 - حدثنا محمد بن الحسن بن أحمد بن الوليد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسن الصفار، عن أحمد بن محمد بن عيسى، عن محمد بن إسماعيل بن بزيع، عن عبد الله بن عثمان، عن الحسين بن مهران، عن إسحاق بن غالب، عن أبي عبد الله الصادق (عليه السلام)، قال: من أساء خلقه عذب نفسه (2).

Muhammad b. al-Hasan b. Ahmad b. al-Walid (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Hasan al-Saffar narrated to us from Ahmad b. Muhammad b. `Isa from Muhammad b. Isma`il b. Bazi` from `Abdullah b. `Uthman from al-Husayn b. Mehran from Ishaq b. Ghalib from Abi `Abdillah al-Sadiq (as). He said: Whoever is ill-mannered has tormented himself.

4 - حدثنا محمد بن موسى بن المتوكل (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا علي بن الحسين السعد آبادي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي، عن أبيه، عن محمد ابن أبي عمير، عن محمد بن عبد الرحمن بن أبي ليلى، عن أبي جعفر محمد بن علي الباقر (عليه السلام)، قال: من قسم له الخرق (3) حجب عنه الايمان (4).

He said: Whoever has a share of foolishness, faith will be obstructed from him.

5 - حدثنا أبي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا عباد بن سليمان، عن محمد بن سليمان، عن أبيه سليمان الديلمي، عن عمير بن الحارث، عن عمران بن ميثم، عن أبي سخيلة، قال: أتيت أبا ذر (رحمه الله) فقلت: يا أبا ذر، إني قد رأيت اختلافا، فبماذا تأمرني؟ قال: عليك بهاتين الخصلتين: كتاب الله، والشيخ علي ابن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، فإني سمعت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه آله) يقول: هذا أول من آمن بي، وأول من يصافحني يوم القيامة، وهو الصديق الاكبر، وهو الفاروق الذي يفرق بين الحق والباطل (5).

يقول

My father (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: `Abbad b. Sulayman narrated to us from Muhammad b. Sulayman from his father Sulayman al-Daylami from `Umayr b. al-Harith from `Imran b. Maytham from Abi Sukhayla. He said: I met Aba Dharr (rh) and said: O Aba Dharr! I have seen schism, so what do you order me to do? He said: Betake to these two things: The Book of Allah and Shaykh `Ali b. Abi Talib (as), for I have heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: He is the first to believe in me, and he will be the first to shake hands with me on the Day of Resurrection. He is the Great Saint (al-siddiq al-akbar), and he is the Distinguisher (al-faruq) who will distinguish between truth and falsehood.

6 - حدثنا علي بن أحمد بن عبد الله بن أحمد بن أبي عبد الله البرقي (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثني أبي، عن جده أحمد بن أبي عبد الله، عن أبيه، عن محمد  ابن أبي عمير، عن غير واحد، عن الصادق جعفر بن محمد، عن أبيه، عن آبائه (عليهم السلام)، قال: شكا رجل من أصحاب أمير المؤمنين (عليه السلام) نساءه، فقام (عليه السلام) خطيبا، فقال: معاشر الناس، لا تطيعو النساء على حال، ولا تأمنوهن على مال، ولا تذروهن يدبرن أمر العيال، فإنهن إن تركن وما أردن أوردن المهالك، وعدون أمر المالك، فإنا وجدناهن لا ورع لهن عند حاجتهن، ولا صبر لهن عند شهوتهن، البذخ لهن لازم وإن كبرن، والعجب بهن لا حق وإن عجزن، لا يشكرن الكثير إذا منعن القليل، ينسين الخير ويحفظن الشر، يتهافتن بالبهتان، ويتمادين بالطغيان، ويتصدين للشيطان، فداروهن على كل حال، وأحسنوا لهن المقال، لعلهن يحسن الفعال (1).

`Ali b. Ahmad b. `Abdullah b. Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Barqi (rh) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to me from his grandfather Ahmad b. Abi `Abdillah from his father from Muhammad b. Abi `Umayr from another person from al-Sadiq Ja`far b. Muhammad from his father from his forefathers (as). He said: A man from the companions of Amir al-Mu’minin (as) had a doubt regarding his women. So, he (as) delivered a sermon and said: O people! Do not obey women under any condition, do not trust them with wealth, and do not leave them to run the affairs of families, for if they are left to do what they wish, they will want devastation and power, for we have seen that they have no piety with regards to their needs, and they have no patience with regards to their desires. Extravagance is a necessity for them, even if they have grown up. Astonishment follows them, even if they have grown old. They are not thankful for the many when they are prevented from the few. They forget good things, but they remember evil things. They are infatuated with the fleeting, they reach for defiance, and they defy on Satan’s behalf. So, turn away from them in every condition. Speak beautifully to them, and perhaps they will beautify their actions.

7 - حدثنا أحمد بن محمد بن يحيى العطار (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا سعد بن عبد الله، قال: حدثنا محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، عن عبد الله بن عبد الرحمن الاصم، عن عبد الله البطل، عن عمرو بن أبي المقدام، عن أبيه، عن سعيد بن جبير، عن ابن عباس، قال: خرج رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) ذات يوم وهو آخذ بيد علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، وهو يقول: يا معشر الانصار، يا معشر بني هاشم، يا معشر بني عبد المطلب، أنا محمد رسول الله، ألا إني خلقت من طينة مرحومة في أربعة من أهل بيتي: أنا وعلي، وحمزة وجعفر. فقال قائل: يا رسول الله: هؤلاء معك ركبان يوم القيامة؟ فقال: ثكلتك أمك، إنه لن يركب يومئذ إلا أربعة: أنا، وعلي، وفاطمة، وصالح نبي الله، فأما أنا فعلى البراق، وأما فاطمة ابنتي فعلى ناقتي العضباء، وأما صالح فعلى ناقة الله التي عقرت، وأما علي فعلى ناقة من نوق الجنة، زمامها من ياقوت، عليه حلتان خضراوان، فيقف بين الجنة والنار، وقد ألجم الناس العرق يومئذ، فتهب ريح من قبل العرش، فتنشف عنهم عرقهم، فيقول الملائكة المقربون والانبياء والصديقون: ما هذا إلا ملك مقرب أو نبي مرسل. فينادي مناد من قبل العرش: معشر الخلائق، إن هذا ليس بملك مقرب ولا نبي  مرسل، ولكنه علي بن أبي طالب، أخو رسول الله في الدنيا والآخرة (1).

Ahmad b. Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar (rh) narrated to us. He said: Sa`d b. `Abdullah narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab narrated to us from `Abdullah b. `Abd al-Rahman al-Asm from `Abdullah al-Batal from `Amr b. Abi’l Miqdam from his father from Sa`id b. Jubayr from Ibn `Abbas. He said: The Messenger of Allah (s) came out one day holding the hand of `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). He said: O people! O Bani Hashim! O Bani `Abd al-Mutalib! I am Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah. Surely, I was created from a clay that four from my Ahl al-Bayt have been graced with: I, `Ali, Hamza, and Ja`far. So, a person said: O Messenger of Allah! Will these four be riding with you on the Day of Resurrection? So, he said: May your mother be bereaved with you! None will ride [on anything on] that day except for four: I, `Ali, Fatima, and Salih the prophet of Allah. As for me, I will mount the Buraq. As for my daughter Fatima, she will mount my she-camel, “the Muscular”. As for Salih, he will mount the she-camel of Allah that was hamstrung. As for `Ali, he will mount a she-camel from the she-camels of Paradise – its reins will be of ruby, and it will wear two green garments. He will stop between Paradise and the Fire. The people will be sweating on that day, and a breeze will blow from the direction of the Throne, which will dry their sweat. The Angels of Proximity, the prophets, and the saints will say: “Who is this, other than an Angel of Proximity or a commissioned prophet?” So, a caller will call from the direction of the Throne: “O creation! This is not an Angel of Proximity or a commissioned prophet, but rather, he is `Ali b. Abi Talib, the brother of the Messenger of Allah in the world and in the Hereafter.”

8 - حدثنا علي بن أحمد (رحمه الله)، قال: حدثنا محمد بن أبي عبد الله الكوفي، عن سهل بن زياد الآدمي، عن عبد العظيم بن عبد الله الحسني، عن علي بن محمد بن علي بن موسى بن جعفر بن محمد بن علي بن الحسين بن علي بن أبي طالب (عليهم السلام)، قال: لما كلم الله عز وجل موسى بن عمران (عليه السلام)، قال موسى: إلهي، ما جزاء من شهد أني رسولك ونبيك، وأنك كلمتني؟ قال: يا موسى، تأتيه ملائكتي فتبشره بجنتي. قال موسى (عليه السلام): إلهي، فما جزاء من قام بين يديك يصلي؟ قال: يا موسى، أباهي به ملائكتي راكعا وساجدا، وقائما وقاعدا، ومن باهيت به ملائكتي لم أعذبه. قال موسى (عليه السلام): إلهي، فما جزاء من أطعم مسكينا ابتغاء وجهك؟ قال: يا موسى، آمر مناديا ينادي يوم القيامة على رؤوس الخلائق: إن فلان بن فلان من عتقاء الله من النار. قال موسى (عليه السلام): إلهي، فما جزاء من وصل رحمه؟ قال: يا موسى، أنسأ (2) له أجله، وأهون عليه سكرات الموت، ويناديه خزنة الجنة: هلم إلينا فادخل من أي أبوابها شئت. قال موسى (عليه السلام): إلهي، فما جزاء من كف أذاه عن الناس وبذل معروفه لهم؟ قال: يا موسى، تناديه النار يوم القيامة: لا سبيل لي عليك. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من ذكرك بلسانه وقلبه؟ قال: يا موسى، أظله يوم القيامة بظل عرشي، وأجعله في كنفى. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من تلا حكمتك سرا وجهرا؟ قال: يا موسى، يمر على الصراط كالبرق. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من صبر على أذى الناس وشتمهم فيك؟ قال: أعينه على أهوال يوم القيامة. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من دمعت عيناه من خشيتك؟ قال: يا موسى، أقي وجهه من حر النار، وأومنه يوم الفزع الاكبر. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من ترك الخيانة حياء منك؟ قال: يا موسى، له الامان يوم القيامة. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من أحب أهل طاعتك؟ قال: يا موسى، أحرمه على ناري. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من قتل مؤمنا متعمدا؟ قال: لا أنظر إليه يوم القيامة، ولا أقيل عثرته. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من دعا نفسا كافرة إلى الاسلام؟ قال: يا موسى، آذن له في الشفاعة يوم القيامة لمن يريد. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من صلى الصلوات لوقتها، قال: أعطيه سؤله، وأبيحه جنتي. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من أتم الوضوء من خشيتك، قال: أبعثه يوم القيامة وله نور بين عينيه يتلالا. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من صام شهر رمضان لك محتسبا؟ قال: يا موسى، أقيمه يوم القيامة مقاما لا يخاف فيه. قال: إلهي، فما جزاء من صام شهر رمضان يريد به الناس؟ قال: يا موسى، ثوابه كثواب من لم يصمه (1).

My father `Ali b. Ahmad (rh) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Abi `Abdillah al-Kufi narrated to us from Sahl b. Ziyad al-Adami from `Abd al-Athim b. `Abdullah al-Hasani from `Ali b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. Musa b. Ja`far b. Muhammad b. `Ali b. al-Husayn b. `Ali b. Abi Talib (as). He said: When Allah spoke to Musa b. `Imran (as), Musa said: My God! What is the reward of one who bears witness that I am Your messenger and Your prophet, and that You have spoken to me? He said: O Musa! My angels will come to him and give him glad tidings of My Paradise. Musa (as) said: My God! What is the reward of one who stands before You and prays? He said: O Musa! I boast about him to My angels when he is bowing, prostrating, standing, and sitting. I do not punish whoever I boast about to My angels. Musa (as) said: My God! What is the reward of one who feeds a poor person for Your sake? He said: O Musa! I will order My caller on the Day of Resurrection to call above the heads of the creatures: "So-and-so the son of so-and-son is from those freed by Allah from the Fire." Musa (as) said: My God! What is the reward of one who connects with his blood-relative? He said: O Musa! I will give him harmony in his life, I will waive the pangs of death from him; and the treasury of Paradise will call to him: "Come to us and enter from whichever gate you wish." Musa (as) said: My God! What is the reward of one who abstains from harming the people and establishes noble virtues with them? He said: O Musa! On the Day of Resurrection, the Fire will call to him: "You have no way to get to me." He said: My God! What is the reward of one who remembers You with his tongue and his heart? He said: O Musa! I will shade him on the Day of Resurrection with the shade of My Throne, and I will put him under My auspices. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who relates Your wisdom privately and publicly? He said: O Musa! He will pass through the Path like lightning. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who is patient upon the harm and the insults of the people for Your sake? He said: I will assist them in the horrors of the Day of Resurrection. He said: My God! What is the reward of one whose eyes fill with tears out of humility before You? He said: O Musa! I will protect his face from the heat of the Fire, and I will protect him on the Great Day of Dismay. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who abandons betrayal out of shyness before You? He said: O Musa! He will have protection on the Day of Resurrection. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who loves those who obey You? He said: O Musa! I will prohibit him from My Fire. He said: O My God! What is the recompense of one who purposely kills a believer? He said: I will not look to him on the Day of Resurrection, nor will I dismiss his falter. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who calls a disbeliever to Islam? He said: O Musa! I will permit him to seek intercession from whomever he wishes on the Day of Resurrection. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who prays his prayers on time? He said: I will give him what he asks for, and I will permit My Paradise to him. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who completes his ablution in humility before You? He said: I will resurrect him on the Day of Resurrection with a twinkling light upon his forehead. He said: My God! What is the reward of one who fasts the month of Ramadan for You in anticipation? He said: O Musa! I will put him in a station on the Day of Resurrection in which he will not experience fear. He said: My God! What is the recompense of one who fasts the month of Ramadan for the sake of the people? He said: O Musa! His recompense is like that of he who does not fast it.

9 - حدثنا الحسين بن أحمد بن إدريس (رضي الله عنه)، قال: حدثنا أبي، عن محمد بن الحسين بن أبي الخطاب، قال: حدثنا المغيرة بن محمد، قال: حدثنا بكر بن خنيس، عن أبي عبد الله الشامي، عن نوف البكالي، قال: أتيت أمير المؤمنين (صلوات الله عليه) وهو في رحبة مسجد الكوفة، فقلت: السلام عليك يا أمير  المؤمنين ورحمة الله وبركاته. فقال: وعليك السلام يا نوف ورحمة الله وبركاته. فقلت له: يا أمير المؤمنين، عظني. فقال: يا نوف، أحسن يحسن إليك. فقلت: زدني يا أمير المؤمنين. فقال: يا نوف، ارحم ترحم. فقلت: زدني يا أمير المؤمنين. قال: يا نوف، قل خيرا تذكر بخير. فقلت: زدني يا أمير المؤمنين. قال: اجتنب الغيبة، فانها إدام كلاب النار. ثم قال: يا نوف، كذب من زعم أنه ولد من حلال وهو يأكل لحوم الناس بالغيبة، وكذب من زعم أنه ولد من حلال وهو يبغضني ويبغض الائمة من ولدي، وكذب من زعم أنه ولد من حلال وهو يحب الزنا، وكذب من زعب أنه يعرف الله عز وجل وهو مجترئ على معاصي الله كل يوم وليلة. يا نوف، اقبل وصيتي، لا تكونن نقيبا ولا عريفا ولا عشارا ولا بريدا. يا نوف، صل رحمك يزيد الله في عمرك، وحسن خلقك يخفف الله حسابك. يا نوف، إن سرك أن تكون معي يوم القيامة فلا تكن للظالمين معينا. يا نوف، من أحبنا كان معنا يوم القيامة، ولو أن رجلا أحب حجرا لحشرة الله معه. يا نوف، إياك أن تتزين للناس وتبارز الله بالمعاصي، فيفضحك الله يوم تلقاه. يا نوف: احفظ عني ما أقول لك، تنل به خير الدنيا والآخرة (1

و هو في رحبة مسجد الكوفة...فقال

Al-Husayn b. Ahmad b. Idris (ra) narrated to us. He said: My father narrated to us from Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi’l Khattab. He said: Al-Mughira b. Muhammad narrated to us. He said: Bakr b. Khunays narrated to us from Abi `Abdillah al-Shami from Nawfal al-Bukali. He said: I went to Amir al-Mu’minin (s) while he was in the courtyard of the Mosque of Kufa. I said: Peace be with you, Amir al-Mu’minin, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. He said: And also with you, Nawfal, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. So, I said to him: O Amir al-Mu’minin! Exhort me. So, he said: O Nawfal! Do good, and good will come to you. So, I said: Give me more, Amir al-Mu’minin. So, he said: O Nawfal! Be merciful, and you will receive mercy. So, I said: Give me more, Amir al-Mu’minin. He said: O Nawfal! Say good things, and you will be remembered in goodness. So, I said: Give me more, Amir al-Mu’minin. He said: Avoid backbiting, for it is the treat of the dogs of the Fire. Then, he said: O Nawfal! One who alleges that he had a pure birth whilst eating the flesh of the people by backbiting has lied. One who alleges that he had a pure birth whilst hating me and hating the Imams from my descendants has lied. One who alleges that he had a pure birth whilst loving adultery has lied. One who alleges that he recognizes Allah whilst continually disobeying Allah every day and every night has lied. O Nawfal! Take my advice: do not be a captain, a corporal, a tax collector, or a postman. O Nawfal! Connect with your blood-relatives, and Allah will lengthen your life, beautify your form; and Allah will ease your Judgment. O Nawfal! Your joy would be to be with me on the Day of Resurrection, so do not be a helper of the oppressors. O Nawfal! Whoever loves us will be with us on the Day of Resurrection. Even if a man loved a stone, Allah would resurrect him with it. O Nawfal! Beware of adorning yourself for the people whilst battling Allah with your disobedience, for Allah would expose you on the Day you meet Him. O Nawfal! Maintain what I say to you, and you will achieve the best of this world and the Hereafter.

). 309 / 10 - حدثنا أبي (رضي الله عنه)، قال حدثنا محمد بن يحيى العطار، قال: حدثنا الحسين بن إسحاق التاجر، قال: حدثنا علي بن مهران، عن الحسين بن سعيد، عن الحسين بن علوان، عن زياد بن المنذر، عن بدر بن عبد الله، عن أنس بن مالك، قال: سمعت رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله) يقول: يدخل عليكم من هذا الباب خير الاوصياء، وسيد الشهداء، وأدنى الناس منزلة من الانبياء، فدخل علي بن أبي طالب (عليه السلام)، فقال رسول الله (صلى الله عليه وآله): وما لي لا أقول هذا يا أبا الحسن، وأنت صاحب حوضي، والموفي بذمتي، والمؤدي عني ديني (2).

قال سمعت

My father (ra) narrated to us. He said: Muhammad b. Yahya al-`Attar narrated to us. He said: Al-Husayn b. Ishaq al-Tajir narrated to us. He said: `Ali b. Mehran narrated to us from al-Husayn b. Sa`id from al-Husayn b. `Ilwan from Ziyad b. al-Mundhir from Badr b. `Abdullah from Anas b. Malik. He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (s) say: The best of deputies, the master of martyrs, and the nearest person to the status of the prophets will come to you through this door. So, `Ali b. Abi Talib (as) entered. The Messenger of Allah (s) said: It is not for me to say this, Aba’l Hasan. You are the master of my Pond, the fulfiller of my covenant, and the one who will represent me in my religion.
