1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُوسَوِيُّ الْعَلَوِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ [عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ] بْنِ نَهِيكٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ فُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) إِنَّ إِلَى جَانِبِكُمْ لَقَبْراً مَا أَتَاهُ مَكْرُوبٌ إِلَّا نَفَّسَ اللَّهُ كُرْبَتَهُ وَ قَضَى حَاجَتَهُ

1. Abul Qāsim Ja’far ibn Muĥammad ibn Ibrāhǐm ibn ‘Abdillāh Al-Mūsawi Al-‘Alawi narrated to me from ‘Abdillāh ibn Nahǐk, from Ibn Abǐ ‘Umayr, from Hishām ibn Ĥakam, from Fuďayl ibn Yasār, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: There is a grave near you to which no anguished person goes without Allāh removing his anguish and fulfilling his requests.

2 وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نَهِيكٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ صَاحِبِ السَّابِرِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّبَّاحِ الْكِنَانِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ إِنَّ إِلَى جَانِبِكُمْ قَبْراً مَا أَتَاهُ مَكْرُوبٌ إِلَّا نَفَّسَ اللَّهُ كُرْبَتَهُ وَ قَضَى حَاجَتَهُ وَ إِنَّ عِنْدَهُ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ مُنْذُ يَوْمَ قُبِضَ شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَمَنْ زَارَهُ شَيَّعُوهُ إِلَى مَأْمَنِهِ وَ مَنْ مَرِضَ عَادُوهُ وَ مَنْ مَاتَ اتَّبَعُوا جَنَازَتَهُ

2. Abul Qāsim Ja’far ibn Muĥammad ibn Ibrāhǐm ibn ‘Abdillāh Al-Mūsawi Al-‘Alawi narrated to me from ‘Ubaydillāh ibn Nahǐk, from Muĥammad ibn Abǐ ‘Umayr, from Salamah Šāĥib Al-Sāburi, from Abil Šabbāĥ Al-Kināni, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: There is a grave near you to which no anguished person goes without Allāh removing his anguish and fulfilling his requests. Verily there are four thousand angels next to his grave (who have been there) since the day his life was taken. They are disheveled, covered with dust, and they cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment. These angels accompany those who go to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.) back to their safe haven. If they become ill, the angels will visit them. And when they die, the angels will follow their corpses in their funerals.

3 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ره عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الزَّيَّاتِ عَنْ كَرَّامٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ (ع) قُتِلَ مَكْرُوباً وَ حَقِيقٌ عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَهُ مَكْرُوبٌ إِلَّا رَدَّهُ اللَّهُ مَسْرُوراً

3. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from ‘Ali ibn Ismā’ǐl ibn ‘Isā, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Amr Al-Zayyāt, from Kirām (‘Abdil Karǐm Al-Khath’ami), from Ismā’ǐl ibn Jābir, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: Verily Ĥusain (a.s.) was killed in anguish. Therefore, it is only fitting that Allāh sends back every anguished person who comes to his Ziyārah pleased.

4 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ مُفَضَّلِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَرَضَ وَلَايَتَنَا عَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَمْصَارِ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْهَا إِلَّا أَهْلُ الْكُوفَةِ وَ إِنَّ إِلَى جَانِبِهَا قَبْراً لَا يَأْتِيهِ مَكْرُوبٌ فَيُصَلِّي عِنْدَهُ أَرْبَعَ رَكَعَاتٍ إِلَّا رَجَّعَهُ اللَّهُ مَسْرُوراً بِقَضَاءِ حَاجَتِهِ

4. Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan Al-Šaffār, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Mufaďďal ibn Šāliĥ, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Ali Al-Ĥalabi, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily Allāh offered our Wilāyah to the inhabitants of different lands but no one accepted it (immediately) except the inhabitants of Kūfah. Verily there is a grave near it to which no anguished person goes and next to which he prays four Rak’ah without Allāh sending him back pleased, with his requests fulfilled.

5 حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ رَزِينٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ صَاحِبَ كَرْبَلَاءَ قُتِلَ مَظْلُوماً مَكْرُوباً عَطْشَاناً لَهْفَاناً [فَآلَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ أَنْ] وَ حَقٌّ عَلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ أَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَهُ لَهْفَانٌ وَ لَا مَكْرُوبٌ وَ لَا مُذْنِبٌ وَ لَا مَغْمُومٌ وَ لَا عَطْشَانٌ وَ لَا ذُو عَاهَةٍ ثُمَّ دَعَا عِنْدَهُ وَ تَقَرَّبَ بِالْحُسَيْنِ (ع) إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ إِلَّا نَفَّسَ اللَّهُ كُرْبَتَهُ وَ أَعْطَاهُ مَسْأَلَتَهُ وَ غَفَرَ ذُنُوبَهُ [ذَنْبَهُ] وَ مَدَّ فِي عُمُرِهِ وَ بَسَطَ فِي رِزْقِهِ فَاعْتَبِرُوا يا أُولِي الْأَبْصارِ

5. Ĥasan ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā narrated to me from his father, from Ĥasan ibn Maĥbūb, from ‘Alā ibn Razǐn, from Muĥammad ibn Muslim, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Verily Ĥusain (a.s.), the man of Karbalā, was killed while he was oppressed, anguished, thirsty, and grieved. It is truly fitting that every grieved person, every anguished person, every sinful person, every saddened person, every thirsty person, and every ill person who goes to (the Ziyārah of) Ĥusain (a.s.), who prays next to his grave and seeks nearness to Allāh, the Great and Almighty, through him, will have his grief removed by Allāh and He will fulfill his requests, forgive his sins, prolong his life, and increase his sustenance. “So take warning, O you who have eyes!” (59:2).

6 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى وَ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِدْرِيسَ عَنِ الْعَمْرَكِيِّ عَنْ يَحْيَى وَ كَانَ فِي خِدْمَةِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (ع) عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ بِظَهْرِ الْكُوفَةِ لَقَبْراً مَا أَتَاهُ مَكْرُوبٌ قَطُّ إِلَّا فَرَّجَ اللَّهُ كُرْبَتَهُ يَعْنِي قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع

6. My father, Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan and all of my scholars narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Yaĥyā, and from Aĥmad ibn Idrǐs, from ‘Amraki, from Yaĥyā – who was the servant of Abǐ Ja’far (Imam Jawād (a.s.)), from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Verily there is a grave on the outskirts of Kūfah – referring to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) – to which no anguished person goes without Allāh relieving him of his anguish.

7 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نَاجِيَةَ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي النُّمَيْرِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ (ع) إِنَّ وَلَايَتَنَا عُرِضَتْ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْأَمْصَارِ فَلَمْ يَقْبَلْهَا قَبُولَ أَهْلِ الْكُوفَةِ وَ ذَلِكَ لِأَنَّ قَبْرَ عَلِيٍّ (ع) فِيهَا وَ أَنَّ إِلَى لِزْقِهِ لَقَبْراً آخَرَ يَعْنِي قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَمَا مِنَ آتٍ يَأْتِيهِ فَيُصَلِّي عِنْدَهُ رَكْعَتَيْنِ أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً ثُمَّ يَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ حَاجَتَهُ إِلَّا قَضَاهَا لَهُ وَ إِنَّهُ لَيَحِفُّ بِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ أَلْفُ مَلَكٍ

7. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Muĥammad ibn Nājiyah, from ‘Āmir ibn Kuthayr, from Abil Numayr, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: Verily our Wilāyah was offered to the inhabitants of different lands but no one accepted it as well as the inhabitants of Kūfah did, and this is because the grave of ‘Ali (a.s.) is located in it. Verily there is another grave close to the grave of the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) – referring to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) – to which no one comes, and next to which he prays two or four Rak’ah, and asks Allāh for his needs without Allāh granting it. Verily one thousand angels circulate this grave everyday.

8 حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْكُوفِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) دَعَانِي الشَّوْقُ إِلَيْكَ- أَنْ تَجَشَّمْتُ إِلَيْكَ عَلَى مَشَقَّةٍ فَقَالَ لِي لَا تَشْكُ رَبَّكَ فَهَلَّا أَتَيْتَ مَنْ كَانَ أَعْظَمَ حَقّاً عَلَيْكَ مِنِّي فَكَانَ مِنْ قَوْلِهِ فَهَلَّا أَتَيْتَ مَنْ كَانَ أَعْظَمَ حَقّاً عَلَيْكَ مِنِّي أَشَدَّ عَلَيَّ مِنْ قَوْلِهِ لَا تَشْكُ رَبَّكَ قُلْتُ وَ مَنْ أَعْظَمُ عَلَيَّ حَقّاً مِنْكَ قَالَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ (ع) أَ لَا [أَلَّا أَتَيْتَ الْحُسَيْنَ (ع) فَدَعَوْتَ اللَّهَ عِنْدَهُ وَ شَكَوْتَ إِلَيْهِ حَوَائِجَكَ

8. Abul ‘Abbās Al-Kūfi narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Šafwān, from Walǐd ibn Ĥassān, from Ibn Abǐ Ya’fūr, who said: I said to Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “My yearning for seeing you has made me endure the difficulties of traveling to you.” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Do not complain (about this) to your Lord! Why do you not go to the one to whom you have more obligation than you have to me?!” Hearing that there was someone to whom I have more obligation than I have toward him was more difficult for me to handle than hearing him say, “Do not complain (about this) to your Lord.” So I asked, “Toward whom do I have more obligation than I have toward you?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.). Why do you not go to Ĥusain (a.s.) and invoke Allāh next to his grave and complain to Allāh about your needs?!”

9 حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُعَلَّى عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ [يَزْدَادَ] قَالَ أَتَى رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) فَقَالَ إِنِّي قَدْ ضَرَبْتُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ لِي ذَهَباً وَ فِضَّةً وَ بِعْتُ ضِيَاعِي فَقُلْتُ أَنْزِلُ مَكَّةَ فَقَالَ لَا تَفْعَلْ فَإِنَّ أَهْلَ مَكَّةَ يَكْفُرُونَ بِاللَّهِ جَهْرَةً قَالَ فَفِي حَرَمِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (ص) قَالَ هُمْ شَرٌّ مِنْهُمْ قَالَ فَأَيْنَ أَنْزِلُ قَالَ عَلَيْكَ بِالْعِرَاقِ الْكُوفَةِ فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ مِنْهَا عَلَى اثْنَيْ عَشَرَ مِيلًا هَكَذَا وَ هَكَذَا- وَ إِلَى جَانِبِهَا قَبْرٌ مَا أَتَاهُ مَكْرُوبٌ قَطُّ وَ لَا مَلْهُوفٌ إِلَّا فَرَّجَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ

9. Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ĥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from Ibrāhǐm ibn Muĥammad, from ‘Ali ibn Mu’allā, from Isĥāq ibn Ziyād, who said: A man came to Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) and said, “I have sold all of my belongings and properties and I am thinking of moving to Makkah.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Do not do that because the people of Makkah disbelieve in Allāh publicly.” The man asked, “What about the city of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) (Madǐnah)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The people there are even worse than the people of Makkah.” The man asked, “Then where should I move to?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Go to Kūfah in Iraq, for verily the blessings of that land span a twelve mile radius and there is a grave in its proximity which is not visited by any anguished and grieved person without Allāh relieving him from his anguish and grief.”
