1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي رَحِمَهُمُ اللَّهُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ قَوْماً أَرَادُوا الْحُسَيْنَ (ع) حَمَلُوا مَعَهُمُ السُّفَرَ فِيهَا الْحَلَاوَةُ وَ الْأَخْبِصَةُ وَ أَشْبَاهُهَا لَوْ زَارُوا قُبُورَ أَحِبَّائهِمْ مَا حَمَلُوا مَعَهُمْ هَذَا

1. My father, ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain and all of my scholars narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Abǐ Khalaf, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from ‘Ali ibn Ĥakam, from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: I have been informed that some people go to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.) carrying different kinds of food with them, including AKHBIŠAH and other similar deserts. Verily if they had gone to the graves of their loved ones, they would not have taken any of these (things) with them.

2 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ وَ غَيْرُهُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ السِّنْدِيِّ الْجَمَّالِ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ الرَّقَّةِ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو الْمَضَاء قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) تَأْتُونَ قَبْرَ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ أَ فَتَتَّخِذُونَ لِذَلِكَ سُفَراً قُلْتُ نَعَمْ- فَقَالَ أَمَا لَوْ أَتَيْتُمْ قُبُورَ آبَائِكُمْ وَ أُمَّهَاتِكُمْ لَمْ تَفْعَلُوا ذَلِكَ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَيَّ شَيْءٍ نَأْكُلُ قَالَ الْخُبْزَ وَ اللَّبَنَ قَالَ وَ قَالَ كَرَّامٌ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ إِنَّ قَوْماً يَزُورُونَ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَيُطَيِّبُونَ السُّفَرَ قَالَ فَقَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) أَمَا إِنَّهُمْ لَوْ زَارُوا قُبُورَ أُمَّهَاتِهِمْ وَ آبَائِهِمْ مَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ

2. Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan ibn Aĥmad and others narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Mūsā ibn ‘Umar, from Šāliĥ ibn Sindi Al-Jammāl, from someone who was from Raqqah, whose name was Abul Maďā, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) asked me, “Do you go to (the Ziyārah of) the grave of Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Ĥusain (a.s.))?” I replied, “Yes.” Imam (a.s.) asked, “Do you take different kinds of food with you?” I replied, “Yes.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Verily if you were going to the graves of your own fathers and mothers, you would not have done this.” I asked, “Then what should we eat?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Bread and milk.” Abul Maďā (the narrator) added: Kirām (‘Abdul Karǐm ibn ‘Amr Al-Khath’ami) narrated that he said to Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “May I sacrifice myself for you! Some people who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) take tasty foods with them.” Imam (a.s.) said, “Verily if they were going to the graves of their own fathers and mothers, they would not have done this.”

3 حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) بَلَغَنِي أَنَّ قَوْماً إِذَا زَارُوا الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ حَمَلُوا مَعَهُمُ السُّفَرَ فِيهَا الْحَلَاوَةُ وَ الْأَخْبِصَةُ وَ أَشْبَاهُهَا لَوْ زَارُوا قُبُورَ أَحِبَّائِهِمْ مَا حَمَلُوا ذَلِكَ

3. Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad (ibn ‘Isā), from ‘Ali ibn Ĥakam, from some of our companions, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: I have been informed that some people go to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) carrying different kinds of food with them, including Akhbišah and other similar deserts. Verily if they had gone to the graves of their loved ones, they would not have taken such things with them.

4 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ زُرْعَةَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ عَنِ الْمُفَضَّلِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) تَزُورُونَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ لَا تزورون [تَزُورُوا وَ لَا تَزُورُونَ خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ تزورون [تَزُورُوا قَالَ قُلْتُ قَطَعْتَ ظَهْرِي قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِنَّ أَحَدَكُمْ لَيَذْهَبُ إِلَى قَبْرِ أَبِيهِ كَئِيباً حَزِيناً وَ تَأْتُونَهُ أَنْتُمْ بِالسُّفَرِ كَلَّا حَتَّى تأتونه [تَأْتُوهُ شُعْثاً غُبْراً

4. Muĥammad ibn Aĥmad ibn Ĥusain narrated to me from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Mahziyār, from his father, from Ĥasan ibn Sa’ǐd, from Zur’ah ibn Muĥammad Al-Ĥaďrami, from Mufaďďal ibn ‘Umar, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said, “Going to the Ziyārah (of Ĥusain (a.s.)) is better than not going. (However, sometimes) not going to (his) Ziyārah is better than going.” I said, “You broke my back!!!” Imam (a.s.) said: By Allāh! When you people go to the graves of your fathers you are anguished and grieved. However, when you go to him (Ĥusain (a.s.)) you carry different kinds of food with you. No! (It is better not to go to him) unless you go disheveled and covered with dust.
