1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْفَضَّالِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مُوسَى السَّابَاطِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ (ص) هِيَ مِثْلُ الصَّلَاةِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ (ع) لَا لِأَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (ص) بِأَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ وَ الصَّلَاةَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِثْلُ الصَّلَاةِ فِي سَائِرِ الْأَمْصَارِ

1. My father and Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan ibn Aĥmad ibn Walǐd both narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan Al-Šaffār, from Aĥmad ibn Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from ‘Amr ibn Sa’ǐd, from Mušaddiq ibn Šadaqah, from ‘Ammār ibn Mūsā Al-Sābāťi, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “Is praying in the Mosque of the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) the same as praying anywhere else in Madǐnah?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “No. One Šalāt (prayer) in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) is equal to one thousand prayers elsewhere. However, praying anywhere else in Madǐnah is just like praying in any other city.”

2 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ الْقُمِّيِّ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ الْبَجَلِيِّ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ عَنْ مُرَازِمٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (ص) فَقَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ص) صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي تَعْدِلُ أَلْفَ صَلَاةٍ فِي غَيْرِهِ وَ صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامَ تَعْدِلُ أَلْفَ صَلَاةٍ فِي مَسْجِدِي ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ فَضَّلَ مَكَّةَ وَ جَعَلَ بَعْضَهَا أَفْضَلَ مِنْ بَعْضٍ فَقَالَ وَ اتَّخِذُوا مِنْ مَقامِ إِبْراهِيمَ مُصَلًّى وَ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ فَضَّلَ أَقْوَاماً وَ أَمَرَ بِاتِّبَاعِهِمْ وَ أَمَرَ بِمَوَدَّتِهِمْ فِي الْكِتَابِ

2. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Abǐ Khalaf Al-Qummi Al-Ash’ari, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Mūsā ibn Qāsim Al-Bajali, from someone who narrated to him, from Murāzim, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) about praying in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.). Imam (a.s.) replied: The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) has said: One Šalāt in my mosque is equal to one thousand prayers elsewhere, and one Šalāt in MASJID AL-ĤARĀM is equal to one thousand prayers in my mosque. Then Imam (a.s.) continued: Verily Allāh has given preference to Makkah over other cities, and He has given preference to (specific) areas (of Makkah) over other areas in it by saying, “Take for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place of Ibrāhǐm” (2:125). Allāh has also given preference to some people over others, and in His Book He has ordered people to follow them and to love them.

3 حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ بَابَوَيْهِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنِ ابْنِ مُسْكَانَ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّامِتِ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِ النَّبِيِّ (ص) تَعْدِلُ عَشَرَةَ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ

3. ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain ibn Mūsā ibn Bābawayh narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muĥammad ibn Ismā’ǐl ibn Bazǐ’, from his father, from Ibn Muskān, from Abǐ Šāmit, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: One Šalāt in the Mosque of the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) is equal to ten thousand Šalāt elsewhere.

4 حَدَّثَنِي جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَلِيٍّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ [الْحُسَيْنِ] بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى وَ ابْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ وَ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ جَمِيعاً عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ عَمَّارٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) لِابْنِ أَبِي يَعْفُورٍ أَكْثِرْ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ فِي مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّه ِ(ص) فَإِنَّهُ [فإنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ (ص)] قَالَ صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي هَذَا كَأَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ فِي مَسْجِدٍ غَيْرِهِ إِلَّا الْمَسْجِدَ الْحَرَامَ فَإِنَّ صَلَاةً فِي مَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ تَعْدِلُ أَلْفَ صَلَاةٍ فِي مَسْجِدِي

4. All of my scholars narrated to me from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ĥimyari, from Ibrāhǐm ibn Mahziyār, from his brother ‘Ali, from Ĥasan ibn Sa’ǐd, from Šafwān ibn Yaĥyā, Ibn Abǐ ‘Umayr, and Faďālah ibn Ayyūb, from Mu’āwiyah ibn ‘Ammār, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said to Ibn Abǐ Ya’fūr: Increasingly establish prayers in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.), for the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) has said, “One Šalāt in my mosque is equal to one thousand Šalāt in any other mosque except Masjid Al-Ĥarām, for one Šalāt in Masjid Al-Ĥarām is equal to one thousand Šalāt in my mosque.”

5 مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ وَ حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَيْفٍ عَنْ جَمِيلِ بْنِ دَرَّاجٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ص) صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي تَعْدِلُ أَلْفَ صَلَاةٍ فِي غَيْرِهِ

5. Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan Al-Šaffār, from Salamah, and also Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ĥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from ‘Ali ibn Sayf, from Jamǐl ibn Darrāj, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), who said: The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) said: One Šalāt in my mosque is equal to one thousand Šalāt elsewhere.

6 حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مُصَدِّقِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ مُوسَى السَّابَاطِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الصَّلَاةِ فِي مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ (ص) هَلْ مِثْلُ الصَّلَاةِ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ قَالَ (ع) لَا لِأَنَّ الصَّلَاةَ فِي مَسْجِدِ الرَّسُولِ (ص) بِأَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ وَ الصَّلَاةَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِثْلُ الصَّلَاةِ فِي سَائِرِ الْأَمْصَارِ

6. Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ĥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from Mušaddiq ibn Šadaqah, from ‘Ammār ibn Mūsā Al-Sābāťi, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “Is praying in the Mosque of the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) the same as praying anywhere else in Madǐnah?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “No. One Šalāt (prayer) in the Mosque of the Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) is equal to one thousand prayers elsewhere. 7 حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَيْفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ (ص) صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِي تَعْدِلُ أَلْفَ صَلَاةٍ فِي غَيْرِهِ

7. Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ĥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from ‘Ali ibn Sayf, from his father, from Dāwūd ibn Farqad, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), who said: The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) said: One Šalāt in my mosque is equal to one thousand Šalāt elsewhere.

8 وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ بَعْضِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَنْ مُرَازِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ صَلَاةٌ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْمَدِينَةِ أَفْضَلُ مِنْ أَلْفِ صَلَاةٍ فِي غَيْرِهِ مِنَ الْمَسَاجِدِ

8. Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ĥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from Ismā’ǐl ibn Ja’far, from some of his companions, from Murāzim ibn Ĥukaym Al-Azdi Al-Madā`eni, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: One Šalāt in the Mosque of Madǐnah is better than one thousand Šalāt in any other mosque.
