1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْمِيثَمِيِّ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ الْأَزْرَقِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ النَّخَعِيِّ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (ع) فِي الرَّحَبَةِ وَ هُوَ يَتْلُو هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ- فَما بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّماءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ ما كانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ وَ خَرَجَ عَلَيْهِ الْحُسَيْنُ مِنْ بَعْضِ أَبْوَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقَالَ أَمَا إِنَّ هَذَا سَيُقْتَلُ وَ تَبْكِي عَلَيْهِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ

1. My father and a group of my scholars including ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain and Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Ya’qūb ibn Yazǐd, from Aĥmad ibn Ĥasan Al-Maythami, from ‘Ali Al-Azraq, from Ĥasan ibn Ĥakam Al-Nakha’i, from someone who said: I heard the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) in Ruĥbah reading this verse, “Neither did the heavens weep over them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite” (44:29), when Ĥusain (a.s.) entered from one of the doors of the mosque. The Commander of the Believers (a.s.) said, “As for him (Ĥusain (a.s.)), verily he will be killed and the heavens and the earth will weep over him.”

2 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ مِسْكِينٍ عَنْ دَاوُدَ [يَزْدَادَ] بْنِ عِيسَى الْأَنْصَارِيِّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ النَّخَعِيِّ قَالَ خَرَجَ أَمِيرُ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (ع) فَجَلَسَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ وَ اجْتَمَعَ أَصْحَابُهُ حَوْلَهُ وَ جَاءَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) حَتَّى قَامَ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ فَقَالَ يَا بُنَيَّ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عبر [عَيَّرَ أَقْوَاماً بِالْقُرْآنِ فَقَالَ- فَما بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّماءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ ما كانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ وَ ايْمُ اللَّهِ لَيَقْتُلُنَّكَ بَعْدِي ثُمَّ تَبْكِيكَ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

2. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Ĥakam ibn Miskǐn, from Dāwūd/Yazdād ibn ‘Isā Al-Anšāri, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdil Raĥmān ibn Abǐ Laylā, from Ibrāhǐm Al-Nakha’i, who said: The Commander of the Believers (a.s.) came out and sat in the mosque and his companions gathered around him. Then Ĥusain (a.s.) came and stood in front of the Commander of the Believers (a.s.). The Commander of the Believers (a.s.) placed his hand over the head of Ĥusain (a.s.) and said: O my son! Allāh has degraded some people in the Qur’an by saying, ‘Neither did the heavens weep over them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite’ (44:29). I swear to Allāh that they will kill you after me and then the heavens and the earth will weep over you. The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: My father, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Ĥakam ibn Miskǐn, from Dāwūd/Yazdād ibn ‘Isā Al-Anšāri, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdil Raĥmān ibn Abǐ Laylā, from Ibrāhǐm Al-Nakha’i, from the Commander of the Believers (a.s.).

3 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ وُهَيْبِ بْنِ حَفْصٍ النَّحَّاسِ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ (ع) بَكَى لِقَتْلِهِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ احْمَرَّتَا وَ لَمْ تَبْكِيَا عَلَى أَحَدٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّع وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

3. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Wuhayb ibn Ĥafš Al-Naĥĥās, from Abǐ Bašǐr, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: The heavens and the earth wept over the killing of Ĥusain (a.s.) and they turned red. They have never wept over anyone except for Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) and Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.). The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: My father, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Wuhayb ibn Ĥafš Al-Naĥĥās, from Abǐ Bašǐr, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

4 وَ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُوسَى بْنِ بَابَوَيْهِ وَ غَيْرُهُ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْجَبَّارِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ إِنَّ السَّمَاءَ بَكَتْ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ لَمْ تَبْكِ عَلَى أَحَدٍ غَيْرِهِمَا قُلْتُ وَ مَا بُكَاؤُهَا قَالَ مَكَثَتْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً تَطْلُعُ كَشَمْسٍ بِحُمْرَةٍ وَ تَغْرُبُ بِحُمْرَةٍ قُلْتُ فَذَاكَ بُكَاؤُهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ

4. ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain ibn Mūsā ibn Bābawayh and others narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdil Jabbār, from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Uthmān, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Hilāl, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: The heavens wept over Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) and Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) and they have never wept over anyone other than them. I asked, “How did the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The heavens became red for forty days like the sun at the time of sunrise and sunset.” I asked, “Is that how the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Yes.”

5 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَهْلٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُسْهِرٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَتْنِي جَدَّتِي أَنَّهَا أَدْرَكَتِ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ حِينَ قُتِلَ فَمَكَثْنَا سَنَةً وَ تِسْعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَ السَّمَاءُ مِثْلُ الْعَلَقَةِ مِثْلُ الدَّمِ مَا تَرَى الشَّمْسَ

5. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Aĥmad, from ‘Umar ibn Sahl, from ‘Ali ibn Mus-hir Al-Qurashi, who said: My grandmother told me that she was alive at the time of the killing of Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.). She said, “The heavens turned red like blood after the killing of Ĥusain (a.s.) for one year and nine months, and we could not (even) see the sun.”

6 حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْحَلَبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى فَما بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّماءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ ما كانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ قَالَ لَمْ تَبْكِ السَّمَاءُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ مُنْذُ قُتِلَ يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا حَتَّى قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) فَبَكَتْ عَلَيْهِ

6. ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain ibn Mūsā narrated to me from ‘Ali ibn Ibrāhǐm ibn Hāshim, from his father, from Ibn Faďďāl, from Abǐ Jamǐlah, from Muĥammad ibn ‘Ali Al-Ĥalabi, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) explained the verse, “Neither did the heavens weep over them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite” (44:29). He (the Imam (a.s.)) said, “The heavens never wept over anyone after the killing of Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) until Ĥusain (a.s.) was killed. And when he was killed, the heavens wept over him (also).”

7 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ الْقُرَشِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ احْمَرَّتِ السَّمَاءُ حِينَ قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) سَنَةً وَ يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا وَ حُمْرَتُهَا بُكَاؤُهَا

7. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz Al-Qurashi narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Šafwān ibn Yaĥyā, from Dāwūd ibn Farqad, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: The heavens turned red for one year when Ĥusain (a.s.) was killed. The same thing happened when Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) was killed. The redness of the heavens is how it weeps.

8 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنِ ابْنِ بُكَيْرٍ عَنْ زُرَارَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْخَالِقِ بْنِ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ لَمْ يَجْعَلِ اللَّهُ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا وَ يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا (ع) لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ سَمِيًّا وَ لَمْ تَبْكِ السَّمَاءُ إِلَّا عَلَيْهَا أَرْبَعِينَ صَبَاحاً قَالَ قُلْتُ مَا بُكَاؤُهَا قَالَ كَانَتْ تَطْلُعُ حَمْرَاءَ وَ تَغْرُبُ حَمْرَاءَ

8. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Ibn Bukayr, from Zurārah, from ‘Abdil Khāliq ibn ‘Abd Rabbih, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: “We have not given that name to anyone before (him)” (19:7). Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali’s name was not given to anyone before him and Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā’s name was also not given to anyone before him. And the heavens have never wept over anyone for forty days except for the two of them. I asked, “How did the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The heavens became red at the time of sunrise and sunset.”

9 وَ حَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَمِيلَةَ عَنْ جَابِرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (ع) قَالَ مَا بَكَتِ السَّمَاءُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ بَعْدَ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا إِلَّا عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ (ع) فَإِنَّهَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً

9. ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain ibn Mūsā narrated to me from ‘Ali ibn Ibrāhǐm, and from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Ibrāhǐm ibn Hāshim, from ‘Ali ibn Faďďāl, from Abǐ Jamǐlah, from Jābir (Al-Ju’fi), who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: The heavens never wept over anyone after Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) until Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was killed. And when he (Ĥusain (a.s.)) was killed, the heavens wept over him for forty days.

10 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ الْكُوفِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ كُلَيْبِ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْأَسَدِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ لَمْ تَبْكِ السَّمَاءُ إِلَّا عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا ع

10. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz Al-Kūfi narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Ja’far ibn Bashǐr, from Kulayb ibn Mu’āwiyah Al-Asadi, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: The heavens have never wept over anyone other than Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) and Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.).

11 وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ [مَسْلَمَةَ] عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ قَالَ لَمَّا قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ (ع) أَمْطَرَتِ السَّمَاءُ تُرَاباً أَحْمَرَ

11. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz Al-Kūfi narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Našr ibn Muzāĥim, from ‘Amr ibn Sa’ǐd, from Muĥammad ibn Salamah, from someone who narrated to him, who said: When Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was killed, the heavens rained red dust.

12 حَدَّثَنِي حَكِيمُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عُمَيْرٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَسْلَمَ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ [عَمْرُو بْنُ ثُبَيْتٍ] عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ السَّمَاءَ لَمْ تَبْكِ مُنْذُ وُضِعَتْ إِلَّا عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّع قُلْتُ أَيَّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ بُكَاؤُهَا قَالَ كَانَتْ إِذَا اسْتُقْبِلَتْ بِثَوْبٍ وَقَعَ عَلَى الثَّوْبِ شِبْهُ أَثَرِ الْبَرَاغِيثِ مِنَ الدَّمِ

12. Ĥukaym ibn Dāwūd ibn Ĥukaym narrated to me from Salamah ibn Khaťťāb, from Muĥammad ibn Abǐ ‘Umayr, from Ĥusain ibn ‘Isā, from Aslam ibn Qāsim, from ‘Umar ibn Wahab, from his father, who said: ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain (Imam Sajjād (a.s.)) said, “The heavens have never wept over anyone since the day they were created except for Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) and Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.).” I asked, “How did the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “If you would have faced (the wind) with a garment, you would have seen something similar to a red mist of blood on it.”

13 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ حَنَانٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) مَا تَقُولُ فِي زِيَارَةِ قَبْرِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَإِنَّهُ بَلَغَنَا عَنْ بَعْضِهِمْ أَنَّهَا تَعْدِلُ حِجَّةً وَ عُمْرَةً- قَالَ لَا تَعْجَبْ [مَا أَصَابَ مَا يَقُولُ] بِالْقَوْلِ هَذَا كُلِّهِ وَ لَكِنْ زُرْهُ وَ لَا تَجْفُهُ فَإِنَّهُ سَيِّدُ الشُّهَدَاءِ وَ سَيِّدُ شَبَابِ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ وَ شَبِيهُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ عَلَيْهِمَا بَكَتِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءً حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) تَعَالَى وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) مِثْلَهُ

13. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Mūsā ibn Faďl, from Ĥanān (ibn Sadǐr), who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “What do you say about (the reward for) the Ziyārah of the grave of Abǐ ‘Abdillāh Al-Ĥusain (a.s.)? Some people have informed us that it is equal to one Hajj and one ‘Umrah.” Imam (a.s.) replied: Do not be surprised by all of these rewards. Rather, go to his Ziyārah and do not abandon him, for verily he is the Master of the Martyrs and he is the Master of the Youth of Paradise. Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) is similar to Ĥusain (a.s.) and the heavens and the earth wept (only) over the two of them. The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chains: A) My father, and Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan ibn Walǐd, both from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan Al-Šaffār, from ‘Abdil Šamad ibn Muĥammad, from Ĥanān ibn Sadǐr, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.). B) My father, and all of my scholars, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Muĥammad ibn Ismā’ǐl ibn Bazǐ’, from Ĥanān ibn Sadǐr, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

14 وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ غَيْرِ وَاحِدٍ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ عَنْ حَمَّادٍ عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ مَعْقِلٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ كَانَ قَاتِلُ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَلَدَ زِنًا وَ قَاتِلُ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) وَلَدَ زِناً وَ لَمْ تَبْكِ السَّمَاءُ عَلَى أَحَدٍ إِلَّا عَلَيْهِمَا قَالَ قُلْتُ وَ كَيْفَ تَبْكِي قَالَ تَطْلُعُ الشَّمْسُ فِي حُمْرَةٍ وَ تَغِيبُ فِي حُمْرَةٍ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْقُرَشِيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

14. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from more than one person, from Ja’far ibn Bashǐr, from Ĥammād, from ‘Āmir ibn Mi’qal, from Ĥasan ibn Ziyād, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: The killer of Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) was conceived illegitimately and the killer of Ĥusain (a.s.) was (also) conceived illegitimately. The heavens have never wept over anyone other than them. I asked, “How did the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The heavens became red at the time of sunrise and sunset.” The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Qurashi, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Ja’far ibn Bashǐr, from Ĥammād, from ‘Āmir ibn Mi’qal, from Ĥasan ibn Ziyād, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

15 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ رَحِمَهُمَا اللَّهُ جَمِيعاً عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عُثْمَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ إِنَّ السَّمَاءَ بَكَتْ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ لَمْ تَبْكِ عَلَى أَحَدٍ غَيْرِهِمَا قُلْتُ وَ مَا بُكَاؤُهَا قَالَ مَكَثُوا أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْماً تَطْلُعُ الشَّمْسُ بِحُمْرَةٍ وَ تَغْرُبُ بِحُمْرَةٍ قُلْتُ فَذَاكَ بُكَاؤُهَا قَالَ نَعَمْ

15. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali Al-Washā, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Uthmān, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Hilāl, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: The heavens wept over Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) and Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) but they did not weep over anyone other than them. I asked, “How did the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The heavens became red for forty days at the time of sunrise and sunset.” I asked, “Is that how the heavens weep?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “Yes.”

16 وَ عَنْهُمَا عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْبَرْقِيِّ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَسَنِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ النَّخَعِيِّ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ الْحَارِثِيِّ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ عِنْدَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (ع) فِي الرَّحَبَةِ إِذْ طَلَعَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) عَلَيْهِ فَضَحِكَ عَلِيٌّ (ع) ضَحِكاً حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ذَكَرَ قَوْماً وَ قَالَ فَما بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّماءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ ما كانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ وَ الَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ وَ بَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ لَيَقْتُلُنَّ هَذَا وَ لَتَبْكِيَنَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ

16. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad, from Muĥammad ibn Khālid Al-Barqi, from ‘Abdil ‘Aďǐm ibn ‘Abdillāh Al-Ĥasani, from Ĥasan ibn Ĥakam Al-Nakha’i, from Kuthayr ibn Shihāb Al-Ĥārithi, who said: (One day) while we were sitting with the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) in Ruĥbah, Ĥusain (a.s.) entered. (When the Commander of the Believers (a.s.) saw him), he smiled in a way that one could see his teeth. Then he (the Commander of the Believers (a.s.)) said: Allāh has mentioned some people in the Qur’an by saying, “Neither did the heavens weep over them, nor the earth, nor were they granted respite” (44:29). I swear to He, who split the grain and created the living beings, that he (Ĥusain (a.s.)) will be killed and the heavens and the earth will weep over him.

17 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنِ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ قَالَ قَالَ جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ (ع) مَا بَكَتِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ إِلَّا عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ الْحُسَيْنِ ع

17. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad, from Al-Barqi, from ‘Abdil ‘Aďǐm Al-Ĥasani, from Ĥasan (ibn ‘Ali Al-Washā), from Abǐ Salamah, who said: Ja’far ibn Muĥammad (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: The heavens have never wept over anyone other than Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) and Ĥusain (a.s.).

18 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي وَ أَخِي رَحِمَهُمَا اللَّهُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ إِدْرِيسَ وَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى جَمِيعاً عَنِ الْعَمْرَكِيِّ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْبُوفَكِيِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى وَ كَانَ فِي خِدْمَةِ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ الثَّانِي (ع) عَنْ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ الْجَمَّالِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ سَأَلْتُهُ فِي طَرِيقِ الْمَدِينَةِ وَ نَحْنُ نُرِيدُ المكة [مَكَّةَ فَقُلْتُ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ مَا لِي أَرَاكَ كَئِيباً حَزِيناً مُنْكَسِراً فَقَالَ لَوْ تَسْمَعُ مَا أَسْمَعُ لَشَغَلَكَ عَنْ مَسْأَلَتِي قُلْتُ فَمَا الَّذِي تَسْمَعُ قَالَ ابْتِهَالَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ إِلَى اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ عَلَى قَتَلَةِ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ قَتَلَةِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) وَ نَوْحَ الْجِنِّ وَ بُكَاءَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ الَّذِينَ حَوْلَهُ وَ شِدَّةَ جَزَعِهِمْ فَمَنْ يَتَهَنَّأُ مَعَ هَذَا بِطَعَامٍ أَوْ بِشَرَابٍ أَوْ نَوْمٍ وَ ذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

18. My father and my brother both narrated to me from Aĥmad ibn Idrǐs, and from Muĥammad ibn Yaĥyā, from ‘Amraki ibn ‘Ali Al-Būfaki, from Yaĥyā – who was the servant of Abǐ Ja’far the Second (Imam Jawād (a.s.)), from ‘Ali (ibn Ĥakam Al-Kūfi), from Šafwān Al-Jammāl, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) on the route from Madǐnah to Makkah, “O son of the Messenger of Allāh! Why do I see you so depressed, saddened, and grieved?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “If you could hear that which I hear, you would have been distracted from asking me this question.” I asked, “What do you hear?” Imam (a.s.) replied: (I hear the voice of) the angels beseeching Allāh, the Great and Almighty, to curse the killers of the Commander of the Believers and the killers of Ĥusain (a.s.). And (I hear the voice of) lamentation of the Jinn and the intense restlessness and weeping of the angels who are around him (Imam Ĥusain (a.s.)). So who can enjoy food, drink, or sleeping after hearing these voices?!

19 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الْبَرْقِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَسَنِيِّ الْعَلَوِيِّ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ النَّخَعِيِّ عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ الْحَارِثِيِّ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ عِنْدَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ (ع) بِالرَّحَبَةِ إِذْ طَلَعَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) قَالَ فَضَحِكَ عَلِيٌّ (ع) حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ ذَكَرَ قَوْماً فَقَالَ فَما بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّماءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ وَ ما كانُوا مُنْظَرِينَ وَ الَّذِي فَلَقَ الْحَبَّةَ وَ بَرَأَ النَّسَمَةَ لَيَقْتُلُنَّ هَذَا وَ لَتَبْكِيَنَّ عَلَيْهِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ

20 وَ عَنْهُ عَنْ نَصْرِ بْنِ مُزَاحِمٍ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ لَمَّا قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) أَمْطَرَتِ السَّمَاءُ دَماً وَ قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَعْشَرٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ لَمَّا قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) لَمْ يَبْقَ فِي بَيْتِ الْمَقْدِسِ حَصَاةٌ إِلَّا وُجِدَ تَحْتَهَا دَمٌ عَبِيطٍ

20. (Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzaz narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb), from Našr ibn Muzāĥim, from ‘Amr ibn Sa’ǐd, from Abǐ Ma’shar (Yūsuf ibn Yazǐd Al-Barrā), from (Ibn Shihāb) Al-Zuhri, who said: When Ĥusain (a.s.) was killed, the heavens rained blood and no stone was removed in Bayt Al-Maqdis without (one) seeing fresh blood under it.

21 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ فَرْقَدٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) يَقُولُ كَانَ الَّذِي قَتَلَ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ (ع) وَلَدَ زِناً وَ الَّذِي قَتَلَ يَحْيَى بْنَ زَكَرِيَّا وَلَدَ زِنًا وَ قَدْ قَالَ احْمَرَّتِ السَّمَاءُ حِينَ قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ سَنَةً ثُمَّ قَالَ بَكَتِ السَّمَاءُ وَ الْأَرْضُ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَ عَلَى يَحْيَى بْنِ زَكَرِيَّا وَ حُمْرَتُهَا بُكَاؤُهَا

21. My father narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan (ibn ‘Ali) ibn Mahziyār, from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Mahziyār, from Ĥasan ibn Sa’ǐd, from Faďālah ibn Ayyūb, from Dāwūd ibn Farqad, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: The killer of Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was conceived illegitimately and the killer of Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.) was (also) conceived illegitimately. When Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) was killed, the heavens turned red for one year. The heavens and the earth have (only) wept over Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) and Yaĥyā ibn Zakariyyā (a.s.), and the heavens weep by becoming red.
