1 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ [الْحُسَيْنِ] بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَأْتُونَهُ يَعْنِي قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَإِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ يَبْكُونَ [يَبْكُونَهُ] عِنْدَ قَبْرِهِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

1. My father and all of my scholars narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ĥusain ibn Sa’ǐd, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Isā, from Rib’i ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Fuďayl ibn Yasār, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: What is wrong with you (people)?! Why do you not go to him? – This refers to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.). Verily four thousand angels cry by his grave (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment.

2 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ سَعْدَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبَانٍ الْكَلْبِيِّ عَنْ أَبَانِ بْنِ تَغْلِبَ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) إِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ هَبَطُوا يُرِيدُونَ الْقِتَالَ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّع لَمْ يُؤْذَنْ لَهُمْ فِي الْقِتَالِ فَرَجَعُوا فِي الِاسْتِئْذَانِ فَهَبَطُوا وَ قَدْ قُتِلَ الْحُسَيْنُ (ع) فَهُمْ عِنْدَ قَبْرِهِ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ رَئِيسُهُمْ مَلَكٌ يُقَالُ لَهُ الْمَنْصُورُ

2. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Mūsā ibn Sa’dān, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Qāsim, from ‘Umar ibn Abān Al-Kalbi, from Abān ibn Taghlib, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: (On the day of ‘Āshūrā) four thousand angels came down to fight for Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) but he did not give them permission to fight. So they returned to seek permission (from Allāh) and (shortly thereafter), they came down. However, Ĥusain (a.s.) had already been killed. (Now) these angels are by his grave, disheveled and covered with dust, and they cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment. Their chief is an angel named Manšūr.

3 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ جَمَاعَةُ مَشَايِخِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَأْتُونَهُ يَعْنِي قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَإِنَّ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ يَبْكُونَ عِنْدَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

3. My father and all of my scholars narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from ‘Ali ibn Ismā’ǐl, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Isā, from Rib’i, from Fuďayl ibn Yasār, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: What is wrong with you (people)?! 4 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ السَّرَّاجِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ الْعَطَّارِ [الْقَطَّانِ] عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (ع) قَالَ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ [السَّاعَةِ]

4. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Muĥammad ibn Ismā’ǐl, from Abǐ Ismā’ǐl Al-Sarrāj, from Yaĥyā ibn Mu’ammar Al-‘Aťťār, from Abǐ Bašǐr, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: There are four thousand angels who are disheveled and covered with dust, and they cry over Ĥusain (a.s.) (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment.

5 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى بِالْحُسَيْنِ (ع) سَبْعِينَ أَلْفَ مَلَكٍ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَيْهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ شُعْثاً غُبْراً مُنْذُ يَوْمٍ قُتِلَ إِلَى مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ قِيَامَ الْقَائِمِ ع

5. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from ‘Ali ibn Ĥakam, from ‘Ali ibn Abǐ Ĥamzah, from Abǐ Bašǐr, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh has dedicated seventy thousand angels to Ĥusain (a.s.) who are disheveled and covered with dust; they send blessings on him everyday since the day he was killed (and will continue to do so) until (a time) which only Allāh knows – referring to the rising of the Qā`im (a.s.).

6 وَ عَنْ سَعْدٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ فَضَّالٍ عَنْ ثَعْلَبَةَ عَنْ مُبَارَكٍ الْعَطَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ قَالَ قَالَ لِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) عِنْدَ قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

6. My father and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain both narrated to me from Sa’d (ibn ‘Abdillāh), from Ibrāhǐm ibn Hāshim, from Ibn Faďďāl, from Tha’labah, from Mubārak Al-‘Aťťār, from Muĥammad ibn Qays, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said to me: There are four thousand angels by the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) who are disheveled and covered with dust; they cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment.

7 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ جَمِيعاً عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَارُونَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ [شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

7. My father, Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan, and ‘Ali ibn Ĥusain all narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from Ĥusain ibn Sa’ǐd, from Qāsim ibn Muĥammad, from Isĥāq ibn Ibrāhǐm, from Hārūn (ibn Khārijah Al-Šayrafi), who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh has dedicated four thousand angels who are disheveled and covered with dust to (the grave of) Ĥusain (a.s.) who cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment.

8 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنِ الْفُضَيْلِ عَنْ أَحَدِهِمَا قَالَ إِنَّ عَلَى قَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ- شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ [شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ يَحْرُسُونَهُ

8. Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan Al-Šaffār, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Šafwān ibn Yaĥyā, from Ĥarǐz, from Fuďayl (ibn Yasār) who said: Imam Bāqir or Imam Šādiq (a.s.) said: There are four thousand disheveled angels who are covered with dust on the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) and they cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment.

9 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) بِالْمَدِينَةِ أَيْنَ قُبُورُ الشُّهَدَاءِ فَقَالَ أَ لَيْسَ أَفْضَلُ الشُّهَدَاءِ عِنْدَكُمْ وَ الَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ إِنَّ حَوْلَهُ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ [شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارِ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ مَعْرُوفٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

9. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from ‘Abbās ibn Ma’rūf, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Isā, from Rib’i, who said: I asked Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) in Madǐnah, “Where are the graves of the martyrs?” Imam (a.s.) replied: Is not the best of the martyrs – referring to Ĥusain (a.s.) – (buried) near you?! I swear to He who has my life in His Hand that there are four thousand disheveled angels around the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) who are covered with dust. They cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment. The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥasan Al-Šaffār, from ‘Abbās ibn Ma’rūf, from Ĥammād ibn ‘Isā, from Rib’i, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

10 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ بَزِيعٍ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ السَّرَّاجِ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ الْعَطَّارِ عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي جَعْفَرٍ (ع) قَالَ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ يَبْكُونَ الْحُسَيْنَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ فَلَا يَأْتِيهِ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا اسْتَقْبَلُوهُ وَ لَا يَمْرَضُ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا عَادُوهُ وَ لَا يَمُوتُ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا شَهِدُوهُ وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

10. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Muĥammad ibn Ismā’ǐl ibn Bazǐ’, from Abǐ Ismā’ǐl Al-Sarrāj, from Yaĥyā ibn Mu’ammar Al-‘Aťťār, from Abǐ Bašǐr, who said: Abū Ja’far (Imam Bāqir (a.s.)) said: There are four thousand disheveled angels who are covered with dust who cry over Ĥusain (a.s.) (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment. They receive everyone who comes to (the Ziyārah of) Ĥusain (a.s.). If the ZUWWĀR of Ĥusain (a.s.) become ill, they go to visit them and when they die, they attend (their funerals). The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: My father, from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Muĥammad ibn Ismā’ǐl ibn Bazǐ’, from Abǐ Ismā’ǐl Al-Sarrāj, from Yaĥyā ibn Mu’ammar Al-‘Aťťār, from Abǐ Bašǐr, from Abǐ Ja’far (a.s.).

11 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنِ الْعَبَّاسِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبَانٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَكَّلَ بِقَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثٌ غُبْرٌ [شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ مِنْ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ إِلَى زَوَالِ الشَّمْسِ فَإِذَا زَالَتِ الشَّمْسُ هَبَطَ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ وَ صَعِدَ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَبْكُونَهُ حَتَّى يَطْلُعَ الْفَجْرُ وَ ذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

11. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Ĥasan ibn ‘Ali ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Mughǐrah, from ‘Abbās ibn ‘Āmir, from Abān (ibn ‘Uthmān), from Abǐ Ĥamzah Al-Thumāli, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh has dedicated four thousand disheveled angels, who are covered with dust, to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) who cry over him (everyday) from sunrise to midday. At midday these four thousand angels are replaced with another four thousand angels who cry over him (from midday) to sunrise.

12 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيِّ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مَهْزِيَارَ عَنْ أَبِي الْقَاسِمِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَارُونَ قَالَ سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) وَ أَنَا عِنْدَهُ فَقَالَ مَا لِمَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَقَالَ إِنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ (ع) لَمَّا أُصِيبَ بَكَتْهُ حَتَّى الْبِلَادُ- فَوَكَّلَ اللَّهُ بِهِ أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ ذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

12. My father and Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh both narrated to me from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ĥimyari, from Ibrāhǐm ibn Mahziyār, from his brother ‘Ali ibn Mahziyār, from Abil Qāsim, from Qāsim ibn Muĥammad, from Isĥāq ibn Ibrāhǐm, from Hārūn (ibn Khārijah), who said: One day while I was with Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) a man asked him, “What is the reward for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.)?” Imam (a.s.) replied – as part of a longer Ĥadǐth – “When Ĥusain (a.s.) was killed, everything cried over him, even the (various) lands. Allāh has dedicated four thousand disheveled angels, who are covered with dust, to his grave and they cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment.”

13 حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي (رحمه الله) عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ عَنْ صَبَّاحٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَرْوَانَ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ زُورُوا الْحُسَيْنَ ع وَ لَوْ كُلَّ سَنَةٍ فَإِنَّ كُلَّ مَنْ أَتَاهُ عَارِفاً بِحَقِّهِ غَيْرَ جَاحِدٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ عِوَضٌ غَيْرَ الْجَنَّةِ وَ رُزِقَ رِزْقاً وَاسِعاً وَ آتَاهُ اللَّهُ بِفَرَجٍ عَاجِلٍ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَكَّلَ بِقَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّع أَرْبَعَةَ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ كُلُّهُمْ يَبْكُونَهُ وَ يُشَيِّعُونَ مَنْ زَارَهُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ فَإِنْ مَرِضَ عَادُوهُ وَ إِنْ مَاتَ شَهِدُوا جَنَازَتَهُ بِالاسْتِغْفَارِ لَهُ وَ التَّرَحُّمِ عَلَيْهِ حَدَّثَنِي حَسَنُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ

13. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain, from Ĥasan ibn Maĥbūb, from Šabbāĥ Al-Ĥadhā, from Muĥammad ibn Marwān, who said: I heard Abā ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) say: Go to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.) (as much as you can) even if it is only once a year. Verily those who go to his Ziyārah, believing in his rights and not denying (his status), will have no recompense but Paradise. They will be sustained with great wealth and Allāh will bring immediate relief to them. Verily Allāh has dedicated four thousand angels to the grave of Ĥusain ibn ‘Ali (a.s.) who cry over him. They accompany everyone who goes to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.) back to their families. If they (the Zuwwār) become ill, these angels will visit them. When they die, these angels will attend their funerals, seeking forgiveness for them and asking Allāh to have mercy on them. The above Ĥadǐth has also been narrated to me through the following chain: Ĥasan ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from his father, from Ĥasan ibn Maĥbūb, from Šabbāĥ Al-Ĥadhā, from Muĥammad ibn Marwān, from Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (a.s.).

14 وَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سَيْفِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ وَكَّلَ اللَّهُ بِقَبْرِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) سَبْعِينَ أَلْفَ [مَلَكٍ ملكا شُعْثاً غُبْراً يَبْكُونَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ يُصَلُّونَ عِنْدَهُ الصَّلَاةُ الْوَاحِدَةُ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِمْ [مِنْ صَلَاةِ أَحَدِهِمْ] تَعْدِلُ أَلْفَ صَلَاةٍ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الْآدَمِيِّينَ يَكُونُ ثَوَابُ صَلَاتِهِمْ وَ أَجْرُ ذَلِكَ لِمَنْ زَارَ قَبْرَهُ

14. My father narrated to me from Sa’d ibn ‘Abdillāh, from Aĥmad ibn Muĥammad ibn ‘Isā, from his father, from Sayf ibn ‘Amǐrah, from Bakr ibn Muĥammad, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh has dedicated seventy thousand angels to the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.). They are disheveled and covered with dust. They cry over him (and will continue to do so) until the Day of Judgment. They establish Šalāt by his grave and each of their Šalāt is equal to one thousand Šalāt of mankind, and the reward of their Šalāt will be registered for those who go to the Ziyārah of the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.).

15 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الرَّزَّازُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَطَّابِ عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ يَحْيَى عَنْ حَنَانِ بْنِ سَدِيرٍ عَنْ مَالِكٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَكَّلَ بِالْحُسَيْنِ (ع) مَلَكاً فِي أَرْبَعَةِ آلَافِ مَلَكٍ يَبْكُونَهُ وَ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِزُوَّارِهِ وَ يَدْعُونَ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ

15. Muĥammad ibn Ja’far Al-Razzāz narrated to me from Muĥammad ibn Ĥusain ibn Abil Khaťťāb, from Šafwān ibn Yaĥyā, from Ĥanān ibn Sadǐr, from Mālik Al-Juhani, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: Allāh has dedicated an angel (named Manšūr) along with four thousand angels to Ĥusain (a.s.). They cry over him and seek forgiveness for those who go to his Ziyārah and pray for them.

16 حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ الْبَصْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَصَمِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) قَالَ إِذَا زُرْتُمْ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ (ع) فَالْزَمُوا الصَّمْتَ إِلَّا مِنْ خَيْرٍ وَ إِنَّ مَلَائِكَةَ اللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ مِنَ الْحَفَظَةِ- تَحْضُرُ الْمَلَائِكَةَ الَّذِينَ بِالْحَائِرِ فَتُصَافِحُهُمْ فَلَا يُجِيبُونَهَا مِنْ شِدَّةِ الْبُكَاءِ فَيَنْتَظِرُونَهُمْ حَتَّى تَزُولَ الشَّمْسُ وَ حَتَّى يُنَوِّرَ الْفَجْرُ ثُمَّ يُكَلِّمُونَهُمْ وَ يَسْأَلُونَهُمْ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ مِنْ أَمْرِ السَّمَاءِ فَأَمَّا مَا بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْوَقْتَيْنِ- فَإِنَّهُمْ لَا يَنْطِقُونَ وَ لا يَفْتُرُونَ عَنِ الْبُكَاءِ وَ الدُّعَاءِ وَ لَا يَشْغَلُونَهُمْ فِي هَذَيْنِ الْوَقْتَيْنِ عَنْ أَصْحَابِهِمْ فَإِنَّمَا شُغُلُهُمْ بِكُمْ إِذَا نَطَقْتُمْ قُلْتُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ وَ مَا الَّذِي يَسْأَلُونَهُمْ عَنْهُ وَ أَيُّهُمْ يَسْأَلُ صَاحِبَهُ الْحَفَظَةُ أَوْ أَهْلُ الْحَائِرِ قَالَ أَهْلُ الْحَائِرِ يَسْأَلُونَ الْحَفَظَةَ لِأَنَّ أَهْلَ الْحَائِرِ مِنَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ لَا يَبْرَحُونَ وَ الْحَفَظَةُ تَنْزِلُ وَ تَصْعَدُ قُلْتُ فَمَا تَرَى يَسْأَلُونَهُمْ عَنْهُ قَالَ إِنَّهُمْ يَمُرُّونَ إِذَا عَرَجُوا بِإِسْمَاعِيلَ صَاحِبِ الْهَوَاءِ فَرُبَّمَا وَافَقُوا النَّبِيَّ (ص) وَ عِنْدَهُ فَاطِمَةُ الزَّهْرَاءُ وَ الْحَسَنُ وَ الْحُسَيْنُ وَ الْأَئِمَّةُ مَنْ مَضَى مِنْهُمْ- فَيَسْأَلُونَهُمْ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ وَ مَنْ حَضَرَ مِنْكُمُ الْحَائِرَ وَ يَقُولُونَ بَشِّرُوهُمْ بِدُعَائِكُمْ فَتَقُولُ الْحَفَظَةُ كَيْفَ نُبَشِّرُهُمْ وَ هُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَ كَلَامَنَا فَيَقُولُونَ لَهُمْ بَارِكُوا عَلَيْهِمْ وَ ادْعُوا لَهُمْ عَنَّا فَهِيَ الْبِشَارَةُ مِنَّا فَإِذَا انْصَرَفُوا فَحِفُّوهُمْ بِأَجْنِحَتِكُمْ حَتَّى يُحِسُّوا مَكَانَكُمْ وَ إِنَّا نَسْتَوْدِعُهُمُ الَّذِي لَا تَضِيعُ وَدَائِعُهُ وَ لَوْ يَعْلَمُونَ مَا فِي زِيَارَتِهِ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ وَ يَعْلَمُ ذَلِكَ النَّاسُ لَاقْتَتَلُوا عَلَى زِيَارَتِهِ بِالسُّيُوفِ وَ لَبَاعُوا أَمْوَالَهُمْ فِي إِتْيَانِهِ وَ إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ (ع) إِذَا نَظَرَتْ إِلَيْهِمْ وَ مَعَهَا أَلْفُ نَبِيٍّ وَ أَلْفُ صِدِّيقٍ وَ أَلْفُ شَهِيدٍ وَ مِنَ الْكَرُوبِيِّينَ أَلْفُ أَلْفٍ يُسْعِدُونَهَا عَلَى الْبُكَاءِ وَ إِنَّهَا لَتَشْهَقُ شَهْقَةً فَلَا يَبْقَى فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ مَلَكٌ إِلَّا بَكَى رَحْمَةً لِصَوْتِهَا وَ مَا تَسْكُنُ حَتَّى يَأْتِيَهَا النَّبِيُّ (ص) [أَبُوهَا] فَيَقُولُ يَا بُنَيَّةِ قَدْ أَبْكَيْتِ أَهْلَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ شَغَلْتِهِمْ عَنِ التَّسْبِيحِ وَ التَّقْدِيسِ فَكُفِّي حَتَّى يُقَدِّسُوا فَ إِنَّ اللّهَ بالِغُ أَمْرِهِ وَ إِنَّهَا لَتَنْظُرُ إِلَى مَنْ حَضَرَ مِنْكُمْ فَتَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ لَهُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ خَيْرٍ وَ لَا تَزْهَدُوا فِي إِتْيَانِهِ فَإِنَّ الْخَيْرَ فِي إِتْيَانِهِ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ أَنْ يُحْصَى

16. Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ĥimyari narrated to me from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Muĥammad ibn Sālim, from Muĥammad ibn Khālid, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ĥammād Al-Bašri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn ‘Abdil Raĥmān Al-Ašam, from Haytham ibn Wāqid, from (‘Abdil Malik ibn) Muqarrin, who said: Abū ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)) said: When you go to the Ziyārah of Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Ĥusain (a.s.)), maintain silence except when (you are) saying that which is good. Verily the angels of the night and of the day from among the Keepers go to the angels who are in ĤĀ`IR and shake hands with them. However, the angels of Ĥā`ir do not speak to them because they are crying so intensely. Therefore, the angels (among the Keepers) wait for them until midday or until sunrise and then they speak to them and ask them about some of the affairs of the heavens. The angels of Ĥā`ir abstain from speaking between these times (sunrise and midday) and their crying and supplicating does not diminish. Verily the Keepers do not distract the angels of Ĥā`ir between these two times. However the angels of Ĥā`ir become distracted when you (those who go to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.)) speak. I asked, “May I sacrifice myself for you! What do the angels ask each other and which group asks the other? Is it the Keepers who ask (the angels of Ĥā`ir) or is it the angels of Ĥā`ir who ask (the Keepers)?” Imam (a.s.) replied, “The angels of Ĥā`ir ask the Keepers because the angels of Ĥā`ir do not move from their place. However, the Keepers descend from the heavens and ascend back to them.” I asked, “What do the angels of Ĥā`ir ask the Keepers?” Imam (a.s.) replied: The Keepers pass by Ismā’ǐl, the Angel of Air, in their ascent (to the heavens) and sometimes they reach him at the same time when the Prophet, Fāťimah, Ĥasan and Ĥusain, and the (other) Imams (a.s.), who have passed away, are there (with Ismā’ǐl). They (the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.)) ask the Keepers about some matters and about those of you (Zuwwār) who are present in Ĥā`ir. They (the Ahlul Bayt (a.s.)) say to the Keepers, “Give them (those who have gone to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.)) glad tidings with your prayers.” The Keepers ask, “How should we give them glad tidings when they cannot hear us?” The Ahlul Bayt (a.s.) will reply, “Congratulate them and pray for them on our behalf. Verily these are our glad tidings to them. When they want to leave, surround them and rub your wings on them so that they can feel your presence. Verily we entrust them to He whose trust will never be lost.” Imam (a.s.) continued: If the Zuwwār of Ĥusain (a.s.) and the people knew the blessings of the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.), they would have fought one another with swords and they would have sold their belongings to go to his Ziyārah. Verily when Fāťimah (s.a.) – who is accompanied by one thousand prophets, one thousand ŠIDDǏQ (truthful), one thousand martyrs, and one million from among the KARŪBIYYǏN who all support her by joining her in crying (over Ĥusain (a.s.)) – looks at those who go to the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.), she lets out a whoop in such a way that no angel remains in the heavens who does not cry, sympathizing with her cry. However, Fāťimah (s.a.) is not pacified until the Prophet (s.a.a.w.) goes to her and says, “O my daughter! You have made the inhabitants of the heavens cry and you have distracted them from glorifying and sanctifying (Allāh). Therefore, stop crying so that they can glorify (Allāh). ‘Verily Allāh accomplishes His purpose’ (65:3).” Verily, Fāťimah (s.a.) looks at those of you who are present at the grave of Ĥusain (a.s.) and she asks Allāh to shower you with all of the blessings. Imam (a.s.) continued, “Do not abstain from the Ziyārah of Ĥusain (a.s.). Verily the blessings of going to his Ziyārah are much greater than that which can be counted.”

17 وَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْحِمْيَرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَمَّادٍ الْبَصْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَصَمِّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ الْبَزَّازُ عَنْ حَرِيزٍ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ قُلْتُ لَهُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ مَا أَقَلَّ بَقَاءَكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَ أَقْرَبَ آجَالَكُمْ بَعْضَهَا مِنْ بَعْضٍ مَعَ حَاجَةِ هَذَا الْخَلْقِ إِلَيْكُمْ فَقَالَ إِنَّ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا صَحِيفَةً فِيهَا مَا يَحْتَاجُ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ يَعْمَلَ بِهِ فِي مُدَّتِهِ فَإِذَا انْقَضَى مَا فِيهَا مِمَّا أُمِرَ بِهِ عَرَفَ أَنَّ أَجَلَهُ قَدْ حَضَرَ وَ أَتَاهُ النَّبِيُّ (ص) يَنْعَى إِلَيْهِ نَفْسَهُ وَ أَخْبَرَهُ بِمَا لَهُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَ إِنَّ الْحُسَيْنَ (ع) قَرَأَ صَحِيفَتَهُ الَّتِي أُعْطِيَهَا وَ فُسِّرَ لَهُ مَا يَأْتِي وَ مَا يَبْقَى وَ بَقِيَ مِنْهَا أَشْيَاءُ لَمْ تَنْقَضِ فَخَرَجَ إِلَى الْقِتَالِ فَكَانَتْ تِلْكَ الْأُمُورَ الَّتِي بَقِيَتْ إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ سَأَلَتِ اللَّهَ فِي نُصْرَتِهِ- فَأَذِنَ لَهُمْ فَمَكَثَتْ تَسْتَعِدُّ لِلْقِتَالِ وَ تَأَهَّبْتُ لِذَلِكَ حَتَّى قُتِلَ فَنَزَلَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ وَ قَدِ انْقَطَعَتْ مُدَّتُهُ وَ قُتِلَ (ع) فَقَالَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ يَا رَبِّ أَذِنْتَ لَنَا بِالانْحِدَارِ فِي نُصْرَتِهِ فَانْحَدَرْنَا وَ قَدْ قَبَضْتَهُ فَأَوْحَى اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَ تَعَالَى إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ الْزَمُوا قُبَّتَهُ [قَبْرَهُ] حَتَّى تَرَوْنَهُ [تَرَوْهُ وَ قَدْ خَرَجَ فَانْصُرُوهُ وَ ابْكُوا عَلَيْهِ وَ عَلَى مَا فَاتَكُمْ مِنْ نُصْرَتِهِ وَ أَنَّكُمْ خُصِّصْتُمْ بِنُصْرَتِهِ وَ الْبُكَاءِ عَلَيْهِ فَبَكَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ حَزَناً وَ جَزَعاً عَلَى مَا فَاتَهُمْ مِنْ نُصْرَةِ الْحُسَيْنِ (ع) فَإِذَا خَرَجَ (ع) يَكُونُونَ أَنْصَارَهُ

17. Muĥammad ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Ja’far Al-Ĥimyari narrated to me from his father, from ‘Ali ibn Muĥammad ibn Sālim, from Muĥammad ibn Khālid, from ‘Abdillāh ibn Ĥammād Al-Bašri, from ‘Abdillāh ibn ‘Abdil Raĥmān Al-Ašam, from Abǐ ‘Ubaydah Al-Bazzāz, from Ĥarǐz, who said: I said to Abǐ ‘Abdillāh (Imam Šādiq (a.s.)), “May I sacrifice myself for you! How short are your lives, O Ahlul Bayt! And how close are your deaths to one another while the entire creation needs you?!” Imam (a.s.) replied: There is a sheet for each one of us (the Imams (a.s.)) which contains everything that we need to do during our time. Once every order on that sheet has been carried out, we know that our death is imminent. The Messenger of Allāh (s.a.a.w.) comes to us and informs us that our death has come and he informs us of the rewards that Allāh has prepared for us. Verily Ĥusain (a.s.) read the sheet that was entrusted to him, and that which would happen and that which was yet to come were explained to him. There were a few things left on Ĥusain’s sheet which had not been fulfilled when he rose to fight. Those matters were that the angels asked Allāh for permission to help Ĥusain (a.s.) (in fighting) and Allāh granted it to them. While they were preparing themselves for battle, Ĥusain (a.s.) was killed. When the angels descended (to earth), they found that Ĥusain’s time had passed and he had been killed. Therefore, they said (to Allāh), “O Lord! You gave us permission to descend to earth to support Ĥusain but when we arrived, You had already taken him back (to Yourself)?!” Allāh – the Most Exalted – revealed to them, “Stay by his grave until (the day) when you see him rise (again) and then support him. Cry over him and over losing the opportunity to support him. Verily you have been chosen to support him and to cry over him.” The angels were grieved and they cried and mourned over losing the opportunity to support Ĥusain (a.s.). However, when he rises, they will be (among) his supporters.
