 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنِ الرِّضَا ع قَالَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع مَنِ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَماً فَصُّهُ عَقِیقٌ لَمْ یَفْتَقِرْ وَ لَمْ یُقْضَ لَهُ إِلَّا بِالَّتِی هِیَ أَحْسَنُ

1.  Imam  Ridha  (a.s.)  narrates  that  Imam  Ja’far  Sadiq  (a.s.) said,  “One  who  wears  a  cornelian  ring  on  his  finger  will never be needy and his desires will be fulfilled in the best way.”

 أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ یَعْقُوبَ بْنِ یَزِیدَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِیمَ بْنِ عُقْبَهَ عَنْ سَیَابَهَ بْنِ أَیُّوبَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحِیمِ الْقَصِیرِ قَالَ: بَعَثَ الْوَالِی إِلَی رَجُلٍ مِنْ آلِ أَبِی طَالِبٍ فِی حیاته [جِنَایَهٍ] فَمَرَّ بِأَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع فَقَالَ أَتْبِعُوهُ بِخَاتَمِ عَقِیقٍ قَالَ فَأُتْبِعَ بِخَاتَمِ عَقِیقٍ فَلَمْ یَرَ مَکْرُوهاً.

2. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah from Ya’qub b. Yazid from Ibrahim b. ’Uqba from Sayabeh b. Ayoob’ from Muhammad b. al-Fadhl from Abd al-Raheem al-Qaseer who said: “Give a cornelian ring to him.” The order of Imam was obeyed and a ring was given to him. And because of this, he didn’t have to face any harm from that unjust ruler.”

 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ مَاجِیلَوَیْهِ عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِی الْقَاسِمِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِی جَنُوبٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ [أَبِی] الْمِقْدَامِ عَنْ أَبِی جَعْفَرٍ ع قَالَ: مَرَّ بِهِ رَجُلٌ مَجْلُودٌ فَقَالَ أَیْنَ کَانَ خَاتَمُهُ الْعَقِیقُ أَمَا إِنَّهُ لَوْ کَانَ عَلَیْهِ مَا جُلِدَ.

3. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ali Majluwayh from his uncle Muhammad b. Abi al-Qasim from Ahmad b. Abi Abdillah from Abi Junub from his father from Umar b. [Abi] al-Miqdam from Abi Ja’far (a.s.) who said: “Where is his cornelian ring? If he had been wearing that, he would not have been lashed.”

 وَ رُوِیَ فِی حَدِیثٍ آخَرَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع الْعَقِیقُ حِرْزٌ فِی السَّفَرِ.

4.  Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) said, “Cornelian is an amulet in journey.”

 حَدَّثَنِی عَلِیُّ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُوسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ یَحْیَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ مَزْیَدٍ عَنْ أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ آبَائِهِ عَنْ أَمِیرِ الْمُؤْمِنِینَ ع قَالَ: تَخَتَّمُوا بِالْعَقِیقِ یُبَارِکِ اللَّهُ عَلَیْکُمْ وَ تَکُونُوا فِی أَمْنٍ مِنَ الْبَلَاءِ.

5.  Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his ancestors that Amirul Momineen (a.s.) said, “Keep a cornelian ring in your hand  so  that  Allah  gives  you  abundance  and  you  remain safe from calamities.”

 وَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ قَالَ: شَکَا رَجُلٌ إِلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ص أَنَّهُ قُطِعَ عَلَیْهِ الطَّرِیقُ فَقَالَ لَهُ هَلَّا تَخَتَّمْتَ بِالْعَقِیقِ فَإِنَّهُ یُحْرَزُ مِنْ کُلِّ سُوءٍ وَ فِی حَدِیثٍ آخَرَ قَالَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ ع مَنْ تَخَتَّمَ بِالْعَقِیقِ لَمْ یَزَلْ یَنْظُرُ الْحُسْنَی مَا دَامَ فِی یَدِهِ وَ لَمْ یَزَلْ عَلَیْهِ مِنَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ وَاقِیَهٌ.

6. And from the previous chain who said: “Why didn’t you wear a cornelian ring? It protects one from all evils?”

 أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَی الْخَشَّابُ عَنْ عَقِیلِ بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ الْمَکِّیِّ یَرْفَعُهُ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ ع قَالَ: مَنْ صَاغَ خَاتَماً عَقِیقاً فَنَقَشَ فِیهِ مُحَمَّدٌ نَبِیُّ اللَّهِ وَ عَلِیٌّ وَلِیُّ اللَّهِ وَقَاهُ اللَّهُ مِیتَهَ السَّوْءِ وَ لَمْ یَمُتْ إِلَّا عَلَی الْفِطْرَهِ.

7. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by Sa’d b. Abdillah who said it was narrated to me by al-Hassan b. Musa al-Khashab from ’Aqeel b. al-Mutawakil al-Makki who raised it to from Ja’far b. Muhammad from his father from his grandfather (a.s.) who said: Imam Ja’far Sadiq (a.s.) narrates from his predecessors that: “One who wears a ring inscribed ‘Muh’ammadun nabiyyullaahi wa a’liyyunw waliyyullaah’ Allah will save him from unpleasant death and he will die a natural death only.”

 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَی بْنِ الْمُتَوَکِّلِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ یَحْیَی الْعَطَّارُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الرَّیَّانِ عَنْ عَلِیِّ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ الشَّیْبَانِیِّ رَفَعَهُ إِلَی أَبِی عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ع قَالَ: مَا رُفِعَتْ کَفٌّ إِلَی اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ- أَحَبُّ إِلَیْهِ مِنْ کَفٍّ فِیهَا عَقِیقٌ.

8. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Musa b. al-Mutawakil who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Yahya al-’Attar who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. Ahmad from Ali b. al-Rayan from Ali b. Muhammad b. Ishaq al-Shaybani who raised it to Abi Abdillah (a.s.) who said: “No hand raised in front of Allah is loved by Him more than one which has a cornelian in it.”

 حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِیسَی عَنِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ بِنْتِ إِلْیَاسَ الْخَزَّازِ عَنِ الرِّضَا ع قَالَ: مَنْ سَاهَمَ بِالْعَقِیقِ کَانَ سَهْمُهُ الْأَوْفَرَ.

9. It was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan who said it was narrated to me by Muhammad b. al-Hassan al-Saffar from Muhammad b. Isa from al-Hussain b. Ali b. bint Ilyas al-Khazaz from al-Ridha (a.s.) who said: “One who seeks sustenance through cornelian will get a huge share.”

 أَبِی ره قَالَ حَدَّثَنِی الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِیٍّ الْعَاقُولِیُّ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ هَارُونَ الْعَطَّارِ عَنْ زِیَادٍ الْعَبْدِیِّ عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ أَبِیهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ عَنْ أَبِیهِ عَلِیِّ بْنِ الْحُسَیْنِ عَنْ أَبِیهِ الْحُسَیْنِ بْنِ عَلِیٍّ ع قَالَ: لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ مُوسَی بْنَ عِمْرَانَ کَلَّمَهُ عَلَی طُورِ سِینَا ثُمَّ اطَّلَعَ عَلَی الْأَرْضِ اطِّلَاعَهً فَخَلَقَ مِنْ نُورِ وَجْهِهِ الْعَقِیقَ ثُمَّ قَالَ آلَیْتُ بِنَفْسِی عَلَی نَفْسِی أَلَّا أُعَذِّبَ کَفَّ لَابِسِهِ إِذَا تَوَلَّی عَلِیّاً بِالنَّارِ.

10. My father (rah) said: it was narrated to me by al-Hassan b. Ali al-Aqooli from Ahmad b. Harun al-’Attar from Ziyad al-’Abdi from Musa b. Ja’far from his father Ja’far b. Muhammad from his father Muhammad b. Ali from his father Ali b. al-Hussain from his father al-Hussain b. Ali (a.s.) who said: ‘I swear by Myself, I have made it obligatory on Myself that I will never punish with fire (of Hell) one who wears cornelian in his hand and is the lover of Ali (a.s.).”
